Corrie actress Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz Stape, has spoken of her gratitude for the recent storylines her character has had. Fiz is currently embroiled in the latest wacky escapade of her serial killer hubby John (Graeme Hawley) as his misdemeanours are finally discovered. Jennie told the Daily Star, 'I couldn't have asked for a better storyline to celebrate my 10 years in the soap. You can definitely expect fireworks. John finally has to confess - he's murdered three people and is holding more hostage.'

JENNIE McALPINE.jpg

Corrie goes out every night this week at 9PM as several dramatic stories reach their peaks, the downfall of Stape has been long overdue and Jennie explained that Fiz has a testing time ahead, especially when her husband takes their baby, Hope, onto a hospital roof: 'Once John knows he's in the sh*t he runs away. Fiz is left on her own to deal with it all. Originally she just fell for him and loved him because she thought he was safe and secure. Now he's the father of baby Hope and she loves him because he's her family and it's her life. There's too much at stake. When all this is happening the thing that keeps flashing through her mind is that her daughter could actually end up in care - just like she did. She hates him but still loves what they had which was their family and their baby. There is a big showdown on the roof where he takes the baby up and he is teetering on the edge.'

An upcoming Corrie storyline will see knicker factory boss Carla Connor (Alison King) attempt to seduce accused sex pest Frank Foster, played by Andrew Lancel. Carla's mum dies and after the funeral she has several drinks too many, Carla then takes a taxi to Frank's house and offers herself to him. Rather than take advantage of his drunken business partner Frank tends for Carla when she eventually passes out.

ALISON KING.jpg

This behaviour runs contrary to the picture of Frank that Maria Connor has been spreading round Weatherfield after she accused him of attempting to rape her. A Corrie insider told the Sun, 'Frank refuses to take advantage of Carla and viewers will be left confused as to his true nature.'

Inside Soap magazine report that Coronation Street's Ken Barlow will finally get some intellectual stimulation when his grandson James moves to Weatherfield. James, played by William Roache's real life son (also called James), takes up a job with a homeless charity and when Ken suggests he moves into the family home he realises he's finally found someone to talk to on his level. A Corrie insider said, 'Ken is always longing for intelligent conversation, and James is a well-educated, erudite young man who he has a lot of respect for. Ken gets a bit carried away and immediately suggests that James should move in with him and Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride).'

WILLIAM ROACHE.jpg

James was written into the soap last year along with William Roache's other son Linus who played James' dad.

Antony Cotton, who plays gay Corrie character Sean Tully, has told New Magazine that he's happy with the upcoming where he and former boyfriend Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) reunite and plan to raise Sean's surrogate son together. Sean fathered son Dylan with Rovers barmaid Violet Wilson (Jenny Platt) before she ran off to London with her new boyfriend. In an upcoming story Sean visits Dylan in London before returning with the baby and Marcus in tow.

ANTONY COTTON.jpg

Antony said, 'It's two men pushing a buggy down a street - it's modern life. And if nothing else it will give people something to talk about. If there's one conversation about a young, gay man parenting in a positive way that's got to be a good thing. Gay people are the same as anybody else. As long as two people are happy and offer a child unconditional love, I don't see what the problem is.'

After a few years away Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) returns to Weatherfield this month with a new boyfriend and a new 'snobbish' attitude. Brother Jason (Ryan Thomas) finds Todd aloof and condescending after 7 years living his new life in London and the pair clash over Todd's new demeanour. Todd returns to the street to introduce boyfriend Jools to his mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) but after Todd left under a cloud it's inevitable that he should expect a rough ride.

bruno langley.jpg

Bruno told Inside Soap Magazine, 'Todd's very nervous about bringing his boyfriend back to meet the family. He's a bit wary about introducing Jools to everyone, because he's been in London a while and has changed. He's been mixing with well-to-do people and he thinks his mum and Jason are quite common. Todd is all academic nowadays - and he's become a bit snobbish.'

Michelle Keegan, who plays Corrie barmaid Tina McIntyre has said she would be perfectly happy if her character follows Sophie Webster and girlfriend Sian and came out as gay. She is reported to have told the Daily Mirror, 'If the storyline required it, then you just do it. Everyone is so close on set and all the cast get on really well, so it wouldn't be a problem. It would definitely be a different side to Tina!'

Tina is currently embroiled in a storyline involving he friend Xin and boyfriend Graeme staging a sham marriage in order to secure Xin a visa but she says that things may not go according to plan. 'Tina thought she'd come up with a really good plan but it's sort of backfired' she added, 'I don't think she realises how serious the situation is and it starts to affect her relationship with Graeme.'

She also lamented the imminent departure of on-screen boyfriend Craig Gazey, saying 'Craig's leaving in about two months, which is really sad, but I think it will only hit me when he's filming his last scenes. 'I'm close to all of my on-screen boyfriends - Jack Shepherd, Ryan Thomas and Craig. We're all really good mates. When you work with a person day in and day out, you become close.'

mcdonalds.jpg 7.30pm: Jim begs Steve to reconsider throwing Liz out of the Rovers, but he refuses to change his mind. Kevin is furious to learn Sally could be entitled to half his winnings, Carla leaves Maria in charge at the factory, while Jack Duckworth's grandson Tommy (former Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain) arrives looking for Tyrone.
8.30pm: An argument breaks out among the McDonalds when Steve tells his parents' contact that the Rovers is not for sale, leading Jim to make a shock proposition. Tommy Duckworth makes a pass at Sian and learns bad news from Tyrone, while Graeme and Xin are forced to make up stories when the locals ask questions about their wedding.

After Jack bowed out last year it looked like Weatherfield would be bereft of Duckworths but now the latest member of the clan is joining the soap.

Newcomer Chris Fountain will play bad boy Terry's son, returning to the cobbles for the first time in 15 years. Tommy was last seen being taken off to Blackpool with his maternal grandparents after they paid Terry £10,000 for him. The event led to Jack and Vera disowning Terry and to rewriting their wills, leaving everything to Tommy.

Now that Tommy is fully grown it seems likely he'll be returning to the street to claim his legacy.

It looks like Weatherfield super-bitch Tracy Barlow's next love interest may be sleazy businessman Frank Foster. After Frank 'misread the signals' and tried to sexual assault new knicker factory worker Maria Connor, Frank ends up taking out Tracy despite Maria having a few words of warning for her.

kate ford inside soap.jpg

Naturally Tracy sides against Maria and tells Frank exactly what Maria has said about him, which is bound to cause trouble for Maria with new boss Carla. Looks like this story might run for a while.

Been wondering why Corrie recently introduced new character Xin (Tina McIntyre's former work colleague) so prominently? Well, it's all part of a storyline that sees Tina's boyfriend Graham Proctor marrying Xin to help her avoid deportation.

Leaked pictures from the set show Xin Chiang, played by newcomer Elizabeth Tan, arribving at a church in a wedding frock apparently after Graham and Tina stage a break up in the Rovers. Whether the wedding actually takes place or how these shenanigans will affect the imminent departure of Gazey from Weetherfield is not yet known.

Looks like Jim MCDonald is heading for a rollocking return to the Street as he tries to hold up a building society, so he does! Jim, played by former regular Charles Lawson, carries out an armed robbery as part of his attempts to win back Ex missus Liz but it looks like it doesn't go particularly well for him. In fact it appears Liz ends up trying to convince him to give himself up to police.

The scenes were shot (so to speak) yesterday, expect them onscreen sometime around Easter.

It was delayed because of the Cumbrian shootings, but you can now see previews of the two endings of Gail's trial on ITV.com - one where she is found guilty, the other one where is found innocent.

It's a great idea to shoot the two endings and preview them online like this. But I kind of wondered whether they toyed with the idea of people voting for the outcome like they do on Britain's Got Talent and screening the one that people voted for.

I wouldn't be surprised, but think they probably decided it wasn't a good idea because people would overwhelmingly vote for her being sent down I suspect. And the idea that effectively an actor's future career is decided by an audience vote does seem a little mean, even if her character is a tad annoying.

Personally I hope justice does prevail, but we shall find out soon enough.

Next week Corrie builds up to a hostage storyline that it hopes is really going to get the viewers hooked. Gray O'Brien who plays unscrupulous villain Tony Gordon makes his return to our screens when we see him in the prison chapel. But has he really turned over a new leaf? Or is just a front? And just what is his cellmate Robbie (played by James Fleet) planning to do when he leaves prison?

One thing's for sure Robbie is gonna be nothing like the bumbling idiot character of Hugo he plays in Vicar of Dibley. In an interview with the TV Times, Fleet said: "Ever since Four Weddings And A Funeral and The Vicar Of Dibley I've got stuck with the 'posh/stupid' label. It's so nice to play someone who's more like me in real life - I was actually born in a two-up, two-down in Wolverhampton."
