Did you know that Sue Nicholls's real name is The Honourable Susan Frances Harmer Nicholls? Corrieblog editor Flaming Nora wasn't the only one to pick up on Audrey's accent slipping last night, but I wonder if it was only me who struggled to notice the difference between the accents of Mrs Roberts and the eccentric owner of Lord Balco Snoocums III?

She's better than the simpleminded "Trudy!" at least.

Is Rosie Webster, well, Helen Flanagan really, starting to look like Danni Minogue? Enquiring minds want to know. Every time I see a picture of Danni in the papers these days I do a double take as she resembles Coronation Street's Helen Flanagan a great deal - or vice versa.

Today's Manchester Evening News online has a story about how turning your persona into a Simpson character is a new internet craze. They decided to do it to local Manchester celebs, including two from Coronation Street. This one is rather obvious, isn't it? Julie Goodyear as Bet Lynch. The other one was supposed to be Liz Dawn as Vera but it didn't really remind me of Vera in the least. There's a gallery through that link where you can check out all their choices. It's probably even more of a laugh if you readily recognize the celeb names. I knew a few but some went right by me. You can even try it yourselves! I've tried photos of Hilda and Ena but you can't get the hairnet or curlers or headscarf so it just won't do, will it!

We love a good look-a-like at Corrieblog, and today we've already had one of Kevin Webster. I was away on holiday last week and managed to catch part of an episode of a terrible series called 'Le destin de Lisa', which is - now wait for this - a French-dubbed version of a German remake of the US comedy Ugly Betty. Anyway, I thought that the lead actress was the spit of Deirdre Rachid, circa 1998. [Ben]

In our Corrie A-Z yesterday, Flaming Nora, pointed out that in one photograph of Baldwin's Casuals, you could easily replace Vera Duckworth with Kelly Crabtree! Of course, the photo of Vera comes from the heydays of her bubble perm and there is definitely a similarity between Vera's curls and the curls of current factory girl Kelly Crabtree!

Did you know that Liz Dawn came up with the idea for Vera to have curly hair? She noticed that not a single Coronation Street female had curly locks and since Corrie's women were recognised by whatever happened to be on their head (Ena's hairnet, Hilda's curlers, Elsie's red hair, Bet's beehive) Liz decided that Vera needed to stand out. I can't believe we've not blogged this lookalike yet on Corrieblog. Sue Nichols, who plays Audrey Roberts on Coronation Street, has always reminded me of Camilla Parker-Bowles, now the wife of Prince Charles and titled the Duchess of Cornwall. Ok, that's not a very flattering picture of Camilla but it makes the resemblence more startling. In reality, Camilla is perhaps not quite as close to Sue Nichols but I still think there's a similarity in the shape of their faces, all that hair and their colouring.

Charles and Camilla had a happy ending. They finally married over 30 years after they first met and fell in love (bringing it neatly around to our wedding theme this month!) In fact, over on our sister side, Bridalwave, there's a blog about Camilla who has actually recycled her wedding dress, changing the accessories and I think it looks quite nice!

I was perusing the usenet group for Coronation Street (rec.arts.tv.uk.coronation-st) and I saw a link that someone had posted to this photo of Paul McCartney with a comment that Paul reminded the author of our Alma. Janice Battersby does a wonderful job as step-mum to Leanne but has Leanne's real mother ever been mentioned on Coronation Street? Maybe it's time Leanne's real mum turned up to cause a bit of bother on the cobbles. And if Corrie is looking for someone to cast as Leanne's mum, how about our suggestion of an (almost) look-a-like and fab BAFTA winning actress Brenda Blethyn? Just a thought!

I recently watched an excellent French film called 'Le Corbeau' ('The Raven') from 1943 and one of the leading actresses in the film, Ginette Leclerc, seemed to be a dead ringer for Corrie's former lovable-mum (in more ways than one!), Frankie Baldwin. The resemblance between Ginette and actress Debra Stephenson is more striking if we look at a photo from the Bad Girls days when she played Shell Dockley. Tvor did a brilliant character study on Sally Webster the other day, and I wonder how long it will be before we hear Mrs Webster screech: "The Webster residence, Lady of the house speaking!" down the telephone. With a henpecked husband, children being pushed into education, a house in pristine conditon (according to Sean Tully, at least) and an ever-present derision of the neighbours, the similarities between Our Sal and Hyacinth Bucket are numerous. But does Sally really have what it takes to allow the Webster family to become bonafide members of the Weatherfield hoy-poloy? [Elsie Tanner]

Coventry band The Enemy were interviewed on Soccer Am last weekend and I noticed a strong and immediate resemblance of two of the band members to Coronation Street lads. Does anyone else think two of The Enemy boys look like David Platt and Darryl Morton?

Imagine my surprise, surfing around Google Images for interesting photos of former Coronation Street Stars, to come across this as part of a "Fantasy Casting"  for "Dead Celebs" feature on MSN Movies! Could Sarah Lancashire, ex-Raquel Wolstenhulme, play the late Princess of Wales? I think she could! She's got the height and the fair complexion and the talent to play it and it doesn't look like she's ever going to return to the cobbles as Raquel. What do you think?
