Kevin2009.JPGIn addition to my "excellent adventure" meeting Michael Le Vell last week, lots of people in Toronto were lucky to meet him as well, at the British Isles Show at the CNE. One fan and Corrieblog reader, Pauline Hunt, shared her photos with us. Another dedicated fan, Deborah, has her photos online as well. Deborah has met quite a few Corrie stars over the years and has been lucky to have had two private visits to the set. Her collection of photos and her stories are here.

Many, many fans turned up for the show and stood in line for up to a couple of hours to see Michael. They spend the time talking to other fans and sharing their love of the show. The appearance at the "Brit show" is different from the one in Halifax. The actor appears at the show several times through each day for an hour or so, signing autographs and posing for photos. It makes for a long day for the actor but they always seem to keep their spirits up and enjoy meeting fans.

Two more of Pauline's photos are behind the link and we thank her very much for sharing! Comments? Email us!

sean-&-wendi.jpgRegular Corrieblog commentator and occasional writer Seanie went to see Wendi Peters in Cecilia Ahern's play Mrs Whippy the other day, in Kilkenny in Ireland. And afterwards, he got to meet the lady herself. "We asked the stage manager could she come up to the main hall for a minute for a pic and an autograph and she came!" Seanie says. "I told her I was a big fan and told her that I got Out Of Africa for Christmas, and she said 'that was very fun to do!'"

Title.jpgRochdale Online had a piece the other day about a lady called Edie Shufflebotham who was celebrating her 102nd birthday. Edie has watched Coronation Street since the first episode, and is such a big fan that she celebrated her 100th birthday with a tour of the Corrie set. Surely at 102, Mrs Shufflebotham must be Corrie's oldest fan?

Not according to the New Zealand Manawatu Standard, who feature the 103rd birthday celebrations of one Mrs Myra Letts, who has been an avid Coronation viewer since it was first aired in 1960. "I really lived for Coro, everybody watched it," she says. She'll be celebrating with family and friends, but doesn't want any presents, because, "I've got everything."

I met kym Marsh (Michelle) and had an argument with her!

Awwww! Look at this little cutie singing and dancing along to the Corrie theme tune! Her name is Julia, and at 22 months old she clearly has great taste in telly.

ena-minnie-71.jpgYou know you've always dreamed of seeing your name in lights. Well, in a boldish typeface on your favourite soap-related blog, at any rate.

We're looking for Coronation Street fans of the week. You don't have to have done anything extreme or peculiar (such as lurking outside Jack P Shepherd's home and going through his bins - that would be sinister and wrong). You don't have to have seen every episode since you were born. You don't have to pass a gruelling test to see if you remember every barmaid who's ever pulled a pint at the Rovers.

More than 30 years - I recall watching it when I was a little nipper as my late mum was a avid fan. My earliest memory has to be Bet Lynch and her big Danish pastry-style updo.

Who's your favourite character?
Elsie Tanner was my favourite in days gone by, but I really like Eileen and love the sarcastic banter between her and Steve.

gail-platt.jpgThis week's fan of the week is Chris Howard, who is 17 and from Mitchelstown, Ireland. The eagle-eyed among you may spot that Chris has been fan of the week before, but wanted another go!

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have beem watching corrie for well over ten years and I regard it as one of my favourite soaps.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character has to be Gail, she's been involed in some of the soap's most gripping storylines, and Helen Worth who plays her has given her all to the soap for over 34 years and in my view does't get enough praise for it!'

sue-cleaver-249.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Lynn Dunwoodie.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching Corrie for over 40 years, first with my mother, then my daughter and now my granddaughter.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character is Eileen, the ever suffering and hopelessly romantic person with the big heart. She lets everyone who needs a home have one at her house.

bet-jack-vera-29.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Mary Churchill from Norval, Ontario, Canada.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I've been watching Coronation Street ever since Gail Potter married Brian Tilsley (the beginning of maternity leave: good ole CBC was broadcasting two episodes every afternoon, five days a week...those were the days...).

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character now is Jack Duckworth. My favourite character ever was Bet Lynch. Corrie's most under-rated charater is Emily Bishop. She should climb more trees, with her handbag. She's so good at comedy, but she seems to get very few funny story lines. I'd love to see her and Rita at the seaside.

tyrone-dobbs.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Rachel Boothroyd. She's 18 and lives with her mum, dad, two sisters, one brother and one guinea pig in a semi detached house in Bolton, England.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching Coronation Street for the whole of my 18 years, due to my Manchester-born dad! My earliest memory of it was when Steve McDonald pushed his dad Jim off the scaffolding. I must've been seven or eight at the time.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite characters would have to be either Becky or Tyrone. Tyrone's such a nice lad and Becky's character is so complex yet so amusing and well played.

FredElliott.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is "grandma to two wonderful boys"Karen Lee, from Canada. She reads Corrieblog while sneaking a look at the internet at work. Shame on you, woman!

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have watched Coronation Street since about 1997 and was hooked right away simply because it was SO different from the American soaps and the actors could actually act...!

Who's your favourite character?
Fred Elliott was and is my favorite character... I do miss him.

eileen-steve-116.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Gail Boucher, who lives in Canada and is not a fan of the Platts!

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been a Corrie fan for approximately 30 years.

Who's your favourite character?
My favorite character is Eileen Grimshaw.

rovers-2210.jpg What's the definition of tragedy? You might think it's "when the feeling's gone and you can't go on," but you'd be wrong. It's when you look in the "fan of the week" cupboard and find nothing but a three month-old copy of Inside Soap and a KitKat. Actually, I'm quite pleased about the KitKat, but I'm not pleased that we have no fan of the week this week.

So there's no better time for you to email me and answer the following questions:

1. How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
2. Who's your favourite character?
3. What's been your Corrie highlight or favourite story?
4. What would be your Fantasy Coronation Street storyline?
5. Have you ever visited the Street set, met any of the cast, or do you own any Corrie memorabilia?

Tell us a bit about yourself and attach a photo if you'd like one to appear, and that's it! Go on, you'll feel better when you've shared your obsession with the world.

Now I'm off to make a cup of tea to go with this KitKat.

nicole-1510.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Nicole Durden, from Canton, GA in the USA.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching off and on since the early 1980's. In the US it was shown on USA Network because they didn't have much of their own programming when cable TV first started. My mom watched it before she moved to Canada in 1967 when she got married so she used to tape it every day and we came home from work and school and used to watch an episode. I remember the Ken/Mike fights the most and when Curly was a binman for the most part. I got hooked again during the Freshco siege storyline in 2000.

Who's your favourite character?
Alltime favourites are Curly, Alma and Mike. Currently it's Fiz.

rachel 810.jpgOur Coronation Street fan of the week this week is Rachel Fay Olver - another Canadian-based Corrie viewer!

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I watched it vaguely while growing up on occasion, but unfortunately when I was younger I didn't really see the appeal. When I moved to Canada in 2000, it seemed a great link back home to the UK, so I've been following it more for the last eight years. Unfortunately I'm just really watching' Mike Plowman's visual updates at the moment because one of my jobs runs over the show on CBC , and I tried watching online albeit unsuccessfully (advice always welcome so I can try again!).

claire&dad.jpg

This week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Claire, who is originally from Manchester but now lives in New Zealand. She's pictured above visiting the Corrie set with her Dad in 1988, when she was eight years old.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I've watched Coronation Street for as long as I can remember. My parents and grandparents never missed an episode. My first clear memory of a storyline was when Brian Tisley was stabbed outside that nightclub.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character has to be Steve - mainly due to the gigantic crush I had on him as an early teenager. We are many months behind here in NZ and the future doesn't look too rosy for Steve, I can't warm to Michelle (still think it's criminal that Karen left) and doesn't look like there are enough scenes with him and Eileen coming up.

callum-jennie.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is 13 year old Callum Taylor.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching Coronation Street since I was about 5 years old.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character was Richard Hillman because he used to bring some excitement
to the Street. Now I like Fiz because she is very kind hearted and fun.

tyrone-dobbs.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Veronica, from Australia.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching Corrie Street since it started. Mum would always say "bedtime at 7.30," but one night she was so wrapped up in this new programme she forgot to send us to bed. And the rest is history (got to sit up later after that!).

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character is Tyrone (still don't think Molly is good enough for him). Also like Fiz.

jack vera 13-Jan2.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Lynda Clark-McTaggart, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching since 1983. I had watched it on and off for years but I got really hooked while I was at home pregnant with my first child and now I can't do without my Corrie fix. I tape it on the weekdays and watch it later in the day, and I also tape it on the Sunday omnibus and rewatch it looking for scenes that were missing during the week.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character is Tyrone Dobbs, no, Steve MacDonald, no, Sean Tully, no, Jack Duckworth, OK... all of them. But I hate...

This week's Coronation Street fan of the week is "lifelong Corrie addict" Patti Gloss, from Detroit, Michigan.

Chesney3.jpgHow long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching Coronation Street since 1983 via CBC in Canada. I live in a suburb of Detroit Michigan, across the river from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. My husband is also hooked on the show now so it is a family affair. My children work at a summer camp with English counsellors and they always break the ice with the new ones by asking about Corrie, then all the kids commiserate about their moms being addicted to the show.

Who's your favourite character?
My favorite character right now is Chesney. He is such a wonderful young man and incredible bright considering who he has for a mother. My favorite past character was Elsie Tanner. She was so spunky and I loved that she was married to Steve, the American soldier, a nice touch for us American Corrie addicts.

Ken6.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is long-time Corrie fan Norma Hillier from Novar, Ontario, Canada.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have watched Corrie since the very first episode!!!!

Who's your favourite character?
Ken of course is my heart throb.

What's been your Corrie highlight or favourite story?
My favourite story line was when Deirdre went to jail.

What would be your Fantasy Coronation Street storyline?
My fantasy story line would be for Ken's brother to come back on the show [which will be tricky as he died in 1970].

Have you ever visited the Street set, met any of the cast, or do you own any Corrie memorabilia?
No, I have never visited the Street - I would LOVE to do so. Not much memorabilia, just the odd mug, playing cards, books etc.

Previous fans of the week.

This week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Debbie Heddington from London, Ontario, Canada. She's a big fan of the two Freds - Elliott and Mercury!

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I started watching in 1991, because of Queen (the rock band). I love Queen! We were going to the Freddie Mercury Concert for Life Tribute at Wembley Stadium, and I wanted to get used to some British accents. I've been hooked ever since!!

john-savident-138.jpg Who's your favourite character?
My favourite character is Fred Elliott... I SAY, MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER IS FRED ELLIOTT! I really miss his quirkyness. I also liked Reg Holdsworth, he was such an odd character.

What's been your Corrie highlight or favourite story?
I really enjoyed the Shelley and Charlie storyline. He would be so nice and helpful at times, then turn around and do horrible things! Very intriguing.

What would be your Fantasy Coronation Street storyline?
I think a light and fun story would be to have Liam and Steve enter into some business venture together. I think they could make some spectacular messes of things. The one-liners and smart alec comments could be flying all over the place!

Have you ever visited the Street set, met any of the cast, or do you own any Corrie memorabilia?
I haven't visited the Street, or actually met any of the cast. I do have a Reg Holdsworth compilation DVD with many clips of him doing bizarre things. I would love to visit the set and maybe hobnob with the cast sometime in the future though!

We're running low on our supply of fans of the week, so if you've been wondering whether to get in touch, now's a good time! Click here to find out how.

fotw-128.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Christina Clark from Maple Ridge, B.C. Canada, pictured here with her daughter, who picked up an English accent from Corrie!

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
Since the very early 90's... but my mother was watching it well before that, so it was always on. When I first started to watch it, I couldn't understand a lot of what was said because of the accents... and I definitely never could understand anything Jim McDonald said!! But now everything is as clear as a bell to me. When my daughter was a toddler she even started saying quite a few words with an English accent!

Who's your favourite character?
My all time favorite is Bet Gilroy! What a great flawed character! I also really liked Percy, Alf, Raquel, Reg, Spider, Fred and Karen. From today's characters I like Steve, Eileen, Fiz, Kirk, Tyrone and Blanche, and of course Roy and Hayley (Jason isn't hard to look at either).
