Fireman Paul to exit Coronation Street : Corrieblog

ITV have confirmed that actor Tony Hirst, who plays fireman Paul Kershaw in the soap, will leave the street later in the year, leading to speculation that he will be another victim of the Rovers Return fire.

The character of Paul was written in a couple of years ago as a love interest for Eileen Grimshaw, but he hasn't proven a hit with viewers and an ITV spokesperson said: 'He'll leave at the end of his current contract after a dramatic year for Paul and Eileen.'

The Rovers is due to go up in flames in March and it's already been announced that Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) will die in the fire. It would seem to present a perfect opportunity to write Paul out as well.
