Alan Halsall and Coronation Street win at the National Television Awards

Coronation Street won Best Serial and Alan Halsall won Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards.

In his speech, Alan paid special praise to his co-stars Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth) and the late Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth), to whom outgoing producer Phil Collinson also dedicated the Serial award.

Not as fortunate were Natalie Gumede (Kirsty Soames) who lost out in the Newcomer category and Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) who was in the same category as Alan Halsall.
