Facebook features a 'Free Jim McDonald' Coronation Street campaign

Comments (1)

Just a couple of weeks after Jim McDonald tried to hold up a bank in Coronation Street a campaign has begun to have him freed from jail. The Sun reports that a Facebook group called 'Free Jim McDonald, He's Innocent, So He Is' has appeared and actor Charles Lawson, who plays Jim, has lent it his support.

Charles said, 'I've been in this business 35 years. I'm long in the tooth and wise enough to know that producers don't listen to people on Facebook so that's not in my way of thinking. But I'm sure they are aware of it. But I'm delighted with it. I've always been proud of the character, you know.'

Given that he is now in jail and his wife Liz has permanently left the Street, Jim's future in the soap looks uncertain but you can show your support for his release here: Facebook
