Happy Birthday Betty Williams

She's not 90 in real life until May, but actress Betty Driver - who plays Betty Williams - celebrates the landmark birthday in Coronation Street tonight.

The Manchester Evening News has a great interview with her where we learn loads of interesting things about Betty's life including the fact that the Hot Pot queen is actually a vegetarian (what a great advert for vegetarianism - she looks fantastic for her age) and that she initially auditioned for the part of Hilda Ogden.

As she celebrates her birthday in The Rovers, Betty has to deal with a gatecrasher - 91 year old Enid Crump - who is mad at claims in the paper that Betty is the oldest barmaid in Weatherfield. Betty's big birthday coincides with a Royal visit to the Street from Corrie fan Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who can be seen pulling pints here.
