Coronation Street Preview: Fri Jan 8, 7.30/8.30pm

Rita begins a secret affair with Ken Barlow. This becomes public in the Rovers and hard pressed Deidre retaliates by seducing Norris on the Kabin counter. Betty walks in on them and spills the beans to Emily who in a fit of jealousy downs a bottle of sherry, and drunk falls under the wheels of Steves cab which David Platt is joy riding in. Gail stands by David and wants to marry him but is told by Dev that it is illegal. She subsquently marries Dev instead who dies after a game of hide and seek with his fifty children. Gail decides enough is enough and has a sex change but does not survive the operation. It is discovered that David Platt had disguised himself as an anaethetist and had indeed delivered the fatal dose of anaesthetic. Meanwhile following a steamy bed scene with Rita, Ken develops a bad back and has to use a walking stick. Rita has a crises of conscience and tells Ken it is all off. Deidre forgives Ken but he cannot fogive her and Norris's body is found behind the Kabin counter. He has been brutally hit about the head with a walking stick which turns up in several sawn pieces in Bettys hot pots. Health and Safety are called in. The Rovers is closed, Steve is broke and poisons himself. Heartbroken Becky tops herself and Liz gets pregnant by Tyrone who has now found out about his wifes philandering and has also killed her after murdering the mechanic Kevin by dropping a wheel jack on his private part. Emily dies of injuries received in the car accident and Rite grieves to death. Deidre is executed for murdering Norris with Kens walking stick and tries to pin the blame on Ken whilst Ken, after marrying Betty Turpin and adopting Tyrone and David Platt who have now both completed community service for their murderous crimes, gives an interview to the local press on good old family values in the traditional British community of Coronation Street.
