Comments (17)

PAM_HOBSWORTH.jpgHere at Corrieblog, we've been lucky enough to secure an exciting opportunity for our readers. Kate Anthony - better known to viewers as Auntie Pam Hobsworth - is giving us the chance to have a Q&A session with her, to ask her anything we'd like to know!

I'd like to invite you to submit any questions you'd like to ask Kate about her role as Pam, her time on the Street, or anything else about her life and acting career. You can email me your questions, and try to get them in by Tuesday 21 July.

Hope you will make the most of this great opportunity to interact with a star of Corrie, and here's hoping this may be the first of many Q&As!

Hi Corrieblog, what an excellent feature. Classic character and a great result to get this with Kate Anthony.

My questions are:

1. Is the relationship with Bill going to go further? - I do hope so.

2. Where does Pam actually live?

3. Are you going to make Molly see the way of her misguided errors with Kevin and call a halt to the crazy affair?

4. More serious storylines would be good for Pam as she has a good side to her which isn't always about selling a deal.

5. A romantic tale would be good.

6. What happened to Whispering Geoff? Is he coming back.

7. Will you become the new head of the 'Duckworth' household and look after Molly and Tyrone?

8. Your part is so funny generally. Why don't they give you more scenes with Norris or Blanche?

Love your character and superb performance. You are one of our favorite characters and keep it up. Hope you stay in the street for many many years to come thank you.

Jonty and Carol - huge fans!

Hello CorrieBlog,

I have to be honest, I wasn't sure about Pam at first, but I love her now. One of the best, if not the best, REAL characters on the street.

Could you ask Kate the following questions please.

Did she watch Coronation Street before she was cast in it?

Is she happy to work there for a long time or does she think as an actress she should experience more varied acting roles?

What is her best job to date?

Is Pam a character she is happy with and did she base the character on experience or anyone she knows, or is it simply what the part calls for?

I too love Pam. Keep it coming.

Thanks - Tracey

Which actors do you enjoy working with the most and why?

Who are your closest friends you work with on the street?

Do you live in the North?

How often do you film and what time are you expected in to start work?

Do you like the clothes they dress Pam in or would you like something a little less anorak!

Are any of your real family in the entertainment business?

Do you have some good storylines coming up for the next year for Pam?

Are more of the Hobsworth family coming in?

Hello Kate,

Wow, so exciting to ask you a question or two.

Can you tell me if you are looking forward to next year's 50th Anniversary and what will you be doing if you can tell us? I'm hoping you would have settled down with Bill and both of you have the Dobbs and Websters in hand.

Will you become closer to Hayley? I think you could be good friends.

Also, am I right in saying that you have worked with Malcolm Hebden (Norris) before? It's amazing what you can find on the WWW!

How long have you been acting? Did you go to drama school?

Do you pick your own character's clothes? By the way, I though you looked amazing in OK Magazine and the Soap Awards pics. Can't believe you haven't been nominated.

Kiera

I thought you looked gorgeous in the magazine picture from "Tyrone's" wedding.Who made your dress?

If you weren't playing Pam what would your ideal role be?

Who are your acting heroes or heroines?

Characters like Pam make Corrie what it is, by far the most enjoyable and true to life of all the soaps. My whole family love you and think you're great.

Simon

Hi Corrie Blog and Kate,

Just seen Kiera's final comment and funny, but we were all talking about that at a dinner party last night. We are all Corrie fans and all Aunty Pam/Kate Anthony fans as well.

We can't understand why Kate wasn't nominated for both best newcomer and best actress for several awards that have been recently. We though Kate was a dead cert for Best Newcomer. To be honest Craig Gazey is great to watch, but Aunty Pam's character is way ahead of any soap's new characters.

How do you get nominated as most fans only seem to be able to nominate for ones already chosen.

I see Julie Carp's part is also now up for a best newcomer award. Come on - what's going on here. Surely these awards are diluted and not taken seriously if the best actors are not nominated.

Oops, sorry Corrie Blog, but I wanted to get that one off my chest on behalf of many Corrie fans I'm sure.

One more point if I may - When will Aunty Pam and Bill tie the knot? Just makes sense really, rather than these crazy teenage stories and silly feuding family stories.

Corrie is all about comedy and real life, rather than the depressing other soaps and weddings in prison!!

Long live Aunty Pam and may Pam reign for many many years. Boy did we all need a bit of Pam.

I don't have a question, but I would like to pass along my compliments. While there are many thing about Corrie that are going in the wrong direction for me, Pam isn't one of them. She hasn't been on much here in Canada, but I liked her the first time I saw her. She has the makings of a true classic Corrie character and I hope we have her around for a very long time.

What a brilliant feature to the blog, and yes, lets hope there is plenty more of these to come!!

To Kate,

You play Pam so well, and she's a great corrie character, what would you like to see happen with your character, and what's your favourite storyline from corrie? keep up the good work, Pam is like Del Boys sister!

As an actor myself for more year than I care to remember I have to admit that Coronation Street is the only soap I watch. I am fortunate that I have had a fairly good career.

I have loved Corrie for years and I think Aunty Pam is by far the best character and indeed actress on the show currently.

I have no questions other than - please producers and casting directors, let me play a character to work with Kate Anthony.

Hello Kate,

* Do you find that some directors and scriptwriters handle the Pam character in different ways?

* Do you have preferred writers and directors? I appreciate this may be a difficult one to answer - especially if the powers that be read this!

* Who is your favourite street character other than Pam?

* Are you looking forward to some good storylines for the 50th celebrations next year for Pam?

Best regards and thanks for Pam,

Kim

Hi Kate,

It seems you have many good questions already. Here's a couple more.

1. What do you think or Corrie Blog and similar communication providers on Britain's favourite Soap?

2. Do you pay any attention to tabloid press coverage?

3. You seem to have be doing quite a bit of charity work recently - is this something you are passionate about and if so, which are your main supported charities?

4. How would you describe your Corrie experience to date?

5. Now that you are a recognised public face, do you enjoy the attention or has it caused you any problems at all?

6. How do your family cope with it and your time away working?

7. I would like to see you having a few more scenes with Molly and Tyrone once more and maybe a few other characters that Pam hasn't had much to do with as yet, like Norris, Blanche and Tony.

8. Just love that Pammy!

I sent mine via email - did you get them? :)

Thanks to all of you who've commented and emailed questions for Kate so far! Keep them coming over the next couple of days.

Corrie Blog - can you please ask Kate/Pam these questions I would be very grateful. Can you also let us know when her answers will be listed thank you?

Do you think Pam and Bill will get married or just be friends or partners?

My friend and Corrie fanatic says that she heard that Pam may be more than just Molly's aunt! Is there any truth to this?

Who of the Corrie cast that you don't regularly work with, would you like to work more with in the future?

Will you and Bill sort your families out with a satisfactory solution?

Do any of the Corrie cast agree with most of the general public, that the Molly and Kevin affair is really stupid and nobody seems to think it's believable?

Does Pam keep in touch with her brother Diggory?

How many marriages has Pam had?

Does Pam actually live on Coronation Street?

What else does Kate want to do in her acting career that she hasn't achieved or done yet?

Do you have your own family?

How long have you been acting?

Did you have acting training?

If you went to drama school, is there anyone you studied with you is also a well known actor?

Thank you.

Harriet
