Blanche Hunt and Peter Barlow: the odd couple

Peter Barlow and his son Simon are set to get a new flatmate in the form of battleaxe Blanche Hunt, according to The Sun. When Blanche's sniping about Ken's conduct get too much for Deirdre to bear, she evicts her pensioner parent. Blanche turns up at Peter's door, announcing, "You can share Simon's room and I'll have your bed. But knowing what you can get up to... you'd better change the sheets first."

Having the watchful eyes and critical tongue of Blanche around the place sounds like just what Peter needs to turn his life around - there'll be no more boozing and neglecting Simon on her watch. It could be the making of Peter just as working with Roy was the making of Becky - and of course, wherever Blanche is, there's huge scope for comedy. "Their relationship will be amusingly fractious at first," says the Sun's Corrie mole, and I don't doubt it for a minute.
