Revealed: the new lady in Jack Duckworth's life

We told you last week that an actress was being sought by Coronation Street to play a new woman in Jack Duckworth's life. The Sun today reveals that Connie Rathbone will be played by Rita May. She'll be on our screens on 17 April.

Rita May has been in Corrie before, playing Brenda Kelly in 2001, and a couple of other roles previous to that. She's most familiar to me from the BBC comedy series Early Doors, in which she played the landlord's mum, Jean, who spent most of her time scoffing chocolate and gossiping with the cleaning woman. I think once again this is a perfect piece of casting for Coronation Street and I'm looking forward to seeing how Jack and Connie's relationship develops.
