Perusing YouTube, I came across this snippet from 1983. Deirdre has just told Ken about her affair with Mike Baldwin. What's striking is the parallels with what's happening currently. When Deirdre says of Mike, "He talks to me, and he listens, too," you can imagine Ken using those words now to justify his relationship with Martha. In the 26 years since this episode, Ken and Deirdre have stayed together (on and off), but it's debatable whether they are any closer now than they were then.

A soap couple you never get tired or bored with is Ken and Deirdre, their on/off relationship has taken centre stage many times before and there legendary. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with Martha, it will be good viewing, and then we'll see what happens from the fall - out!
Deirdre looked a sight better in her skirts back then compared to how she looks now. My gosh she was skinny and her voice wasn't as deep from the smoking.
Quality acting and camera work! Really gritty. No wonder Corrie, and those two actors, are still going strong!
To be honest I'm not sure I've ever really seen them that close in all the years they've been a couple. I guess the closest I can remember was after Mike but before Ken had the affair with Wendy Crozier in the late 80s. I don't think their relationship ever has been the same since the affair with Wendy. They were apart for most of the 90s, and their reconciliation seemed to be more about convenience than feelings for each other.
I was startled when I finally got to see some of the episodes when Deirdre was with Ray Langton, because they were so electric, and vital.

I don't think Ken has ever listened to Deirdre, he's too selfish, and she is always being let down. I'd like to see Deirdre really happy for once. Good actress.
