Did you know that Ken Barlow had a brief fling with Rita Sullivan, Littlewood as was? Oh yes, he did and here's the evidence. Not backwards in coming forward is our Ken, as we all know. (And he's still chasing women!) This would have been after Val died but before he married Janet Reid. At the time, she was with a man called Harry Bates and pseudo stepmom to his son. Ken was the lad's teacher and Rita found herself attracted. It didn't get very far and Rita left Harry and the Street shortly after that but was discovered by Len while singing in a nightclub and the rest, as they say, is history!
