The year was 1997 and Fred sold the corner shop out from under Maureen and, more importantly, her mother, Maud. Maud was so angry that she sabotaged the building work by putting a fish inside a cabinet. It didn't take long for it to smell to high heaven!

''Ashley, I say Ashley, did you fart, I say did you fart!' Good memory, Fred and Ashley were great as father and son, hope we see more of the Peacocks, as Julia who plays Claire is returning, there is a storyline about Graeme being 'possessed' by Fred, and then Claire wants another child...Looking forward to their storylines.
I was watching a clip from 1996 and Ashley's voice seems normal. Did the actor not start doing the high voice until later?
Claire and Ashley are a great couple. I know the Casey story wasn't very popular but I think they both still add a lot to the show, when they're properly used. It will be nice to see a normal yet slightly quirky, happy, married couple. I really like Ashley. Steven Arnold is such an underrated actor. I still remember his beautiful performances after Fred died, especially when he found the note from Fred in the butcher's shop.
