Double episode written by Damon Rochefort and Mark Wadlow
Two brilliant episodes tonight, full of funny lines and brilliant moments. Jason lifted Becky up where she belonged - dressed as both an officer and a gentleman, he carried her out of the café to a hired Harley, got down on one knee and proposed. He even had a ring - Hayley had to quickly take Becky's Marigolds off so he could put it on her finger. Becky said yes, and everyone cheered.
Everyone except Steve McDonald, who'd turned up just in time to see the happy event. He'd been to a posh florist near the Red Rec to get some flowers - so he could propose to Becky himself. Can there be a better soap actor...
anywhere in the world than Simon Gregson? I very much doubt it. He's got the most expressive face - from pure joy when he described Becky to Lloyd: "She just lights up your life!" to total despondency, you always know what's in Steve's heart and mind.
Later on, he tried to propose to Becky himself, but she was having none of it: "Not in a million years. Not if you were the last man alive," she said. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
Kevin is feeling a bit under Sally's thumb, after she spent money on hiring Graeme Proctor to do their garden (he won the gardening prize twice while he was inside but was disqualified the third time because they disapproved of some of the plants. "It's political correctness gone mad," according to Graeme). This led to an argument, and to Kevin visiting his old house, which is now the home of the Peacocks. Kevin wishes he still lived in the house where he used to lodge with Hilda Ogden. Having a conservatory is not all it's cracked up to be.
Tony was annoyed at the factory workers for messing around, and has told Julie that she has to pick someone to be sacked. Julie is also having problems at home, as Kirk is starting to annoy her with his money-making plans. He thought he would set up a bit of a cottage industry making cushions out of Schmeichel's discarded hair (they'll be queuing round the block for those), and he wants to become a stunt man.
Line of the day - Lloyd [in the café]: "I fancy a change. I always have the same old thing."

I liked the whole Becky/Steve/Jason stuff, it was such a romantic thing to do, looking forward to where this story is heading. Also, the Websters I thought were good tonight - Graeme as usual, was hilarous! Its good to see more of Ashley, he's been off our screens nearly the same time as Claire, love Julie's dilemma - Tony's face will certainley bear a look when Luke arrives!
Jason looked very handsome in his rental naval uniform and the whole big gesture was hugely romantic especially when Becky had just knocked back the trip to Tenerife!
Becky: "I'm going to France!!"
Roy: "Spain"
Becky: "I'm going to Spain!!"
*******
Becky: "What if we crash over the Pacific?!"
Roy: "The Atlantic"
Great dialogue from the cafe today and i also loved the crack about Liz! Fantastically written tonight and in general Corrie is in tip top form at the moment. Great viewing figures echo that.
Simon Gregson was superb again tonight and all his scenes were delivered with his usual mix of great comic timing and believability. Is that a word?! It is now!
I am suprised Julie stood for what Tony is demanding of her. Julie is quite forthright but doesn't take much to crumble down. I think despite all her confidence and assurance on the outside she is extremely vulnerable. I like where the producers are taking her character and i am amazed she hasn't grown tired of Kirk before now.
Where did Kevin's outburst stem from?! It came from the leftfield and was a bit bizarre to say the least. I did like the argument scene though. It was very controlled and full of sarcasm. Sophie's contribution also made me smile. Great to see #13 again after all this time as well.
A couple of really enjoyable episodes! But where did Kevin's anger suddenly come from? He seems to forget that Sally works as well, and is just as entitled to spend their money as he is. At least she was spending it on something for everyone to enjoy rather than down the Rovers.
Wasn't it good??? Yes Sue, excellent line of the night! I'd have picked that too.
Kevin's outburst, i'm sure he's felt underappreciated for a very long time and it just bubbles up every now and then. I'm only surprised we haven't seen it before now, especially after the crap she put him through insisting on swopping houses, and pushing Rosie into private school etc. insisting on having her own way. They're clearly pushing a new storyline where Kev will end up straying again. I do hope this isn't going to be the end of Kev and Sal, though. Not after all this time.
I loved Lylods line outside the corner shop about propsing with weeds! I was in hysterics 5 minutes after. After that every minute or two I'd still be laughing! Good episode, corrie deserves some awards, Kim Crowther has certainly led Corrie back to the standard of 5 years ago =]
Since Schmeichel is a shorthaired dog and probably doesn't shed all that much, those would be pretty shrimpy pillows. Ofcourse we are talking Kirk here. Thought by now TPTB would have stopped dumbing him down. Years ago when both he and Tyrone were single and wearing those matching jackets their simple outlook on life was funny and refreshing. Kirk with Les together was enjoyable too but now Kirk is not funny just sad.
Yeah, the "same old thing" line was sheer comic genius.
Last night's episodes were the best episodes of the show in quite some time. Every scene worked, at least those I watched (I skipped over everything with the Windasses and David/Tina). Good use of Natasha, finally showing the reasons why Becky is torn between Steve and Jason, and good, if sudden, drama for Julie and Kevin.
"He seems to forget that Sally works as well, and is just as entitled to spend their money as he is. At least she was spending it on something for everyone to enjoy rather than down the Rovers."
I don't know if anyone but Sally enjoys the garden. Kevin seemed upset because she'd lied to him, and then she and Sophie both brushed off his anger like he meant nothing to them. I've seen all the Webster women treat Kevin this way before and I'm really hoping he's finally going to have enough, although the story doesn't seem to go the way I would have liked to have seen it go.
I felt just awful for Kevin when he told Ashley he was lucky to have boys, because even though he didn't say it, I know he was thinking of the baby boy he lost with Allison.
This story has come out of nowhere but Michael le Vell is doing a fantastic job. I just hope they aren't going to destroy his character.
Brilliant episodes last night, full of Corrie humour, I see one of the writers is Damon Rochefort who wrote the excellent Carla's wedding episode. So many one-liners I need to watch again to catch them all. Simon Gregson doesn't need to speak, his expression says it all.
£25 for a day's gardening work? Grahame come down South, I pay my gardeners £10 per hour. Great writing on Friday, but not difficult as to who Julie should sack - 'Nurse' Janice of course!
