Awards season, eh? It seems to come round faster than Christmas these days. Only t'other day the All About Soap Bubble Awards opened for voting (you mean you haven't voted yet? Do it now), and today it's the turn of the British Soap Awards. Corrie did brilliantly in this in 2007, not so brilliantly in 2008 - could this be the year our favourite soap brings in the trophies?
Corrie nominations are:
Sexiest male: Chris Gascoyne (Peter), Gray O'Brien (Tony) and Ryan Thomas (Jason)
Sexiest female: Helen Flanagan (Rosie), Michelle Keegan (Tina) and Katherine Kelly (Becky).
Villain of the year: Graeme Hawley (John Stape), Mikey North (Gary), Gray O'Brien.
Best actor: Chris Gascoyne, Simon Gregson (Steve) and Gray O'Brien.
Best actress: Katherine Kelly, Alison King (Carla) and Samia Smith (Maria).
And the big one - best soap.

Sexiest male: In the absence of Simon Gregson, I would have to say Gray O'Brien.
Sexiest female: I'm not really an expert in this field, but I'd vote for Michelle Keegan.
Villain of the year: Without a doubt it's got to be Gray O'Brien again.
Best actor: Shame for Gray to not have a hat-trick, but it's got to be Simon Gregson. The man is a genius and a best actor award is long overdue.
Best actress: A tough call between Katherine Kelly and Alison King, both actresses who managed to make us care for characters who weren't initially sympathetic. I'll go for Alison King, as Carla is a more subtle character than Becky, which I think is a trickier thing to pull off.

Thank god Gray O Brien was recognized in Best Actor, I thought they'd slip up and just consider him for Villain.
Although I'm not getting any hopes up, the repetitive garbage from EastEnders will take everything yet again, despite the fact the show consists of 30 minutes of arguing and awful writing.
I wouldn't mind the Eastenders wins so much if such dreadful people didn't win. Sean Slater and Jack Branning are anti-sexy to me, Roxy can't act, all Stacey Slater does is pout and frown.
Anyway, good luck to Corrie. I'm glad they at least recognise the hotness of Gray O'Brien, even if he keeps his shirt on much too often...

I just hope enough people vote this year for Coronation Street-I don't understand how EE keep winning everything, is it because the older viewers of Corrie haven't got internet access perhaps and the EE audiences are maybe younger people that have got internet access? We should encourage friends and relatives to vote using their email addresses as well. I don't think I could stand to see Barbara Windsor collecting the Best Soap award and speaking on behalf of everyone else in EE again for the nth time!
I voted for Corrie in everything but sexiest male, I almost picked Gray but I went for the guy down the bottom with the down turned eyes :P
I picked Steve McDonald for best actor, Alison King for best actress even though I love Becky too.
