Alison King bows out of Corrie (except she can't bend)

Alison King (Carla) is now on maternity leave and awaiting the arrival of her first baby. On ITV.com today she's in a video interview talking about filming her last scenes, which will be screened this Friday. "It's probably been the toughest three weeks I've ever fimed in anything," she says. "Of course I'm going to miss it. I'll probably go mad having no adults to talk to, I'll probably still be coming in every day until I go into labour."

She talks about the events leading up to Carla's temporary absence from Coronation Street. "My exit's quite dramatic, which is nice actually," she says. "It leaves loads of cliffhangers. I'm locked with Tony in Underworld and it's the reveal and the confession of him killing Liam. He actually gets madder and madder and madder as the ep goes on." Carla has to get away from Tony, which presented problems for the heavily pregnant actress. "Obviously I can't run around very much because I've got a seven and a half month baby in my belly," Alison says, "so they're using rain machines and I think they've got some stunt people in, because I can't bend over any more! There'll be loads of loose ends to tie up now, it's really gripping."

Alison's looking forward to returning to Corrie after a few months. "I'll be a mummy when I come back!" she says, "So you might see a more mature me." She giggles. " Or not. Hopefully not."
