Last week we asked: did Christmas on the Street excite you?. Possibly you were all suffering from hangovers when you added your comments, because no-one sounded really happy. Apart from one exception and a couple of people perched on the fence, the verdict was a pretty resounding nay.
Moving swiftly on, and I think we'll start 2009 with a fairly easy one. The New Year episodes saw the formation of a new Corrie couple, Liz and Lloyd. I think they're rather sweet together, and there's real chemistry between Bev Callard and Craig Charles. My daughter, however, practically gags whenever they get within snogging range of each other. They seem like an odd couple even though there isn't that much difference in their ages. I don't think they'll go the distance somehow. I think it'll be a bit of fun for them but i can't see them falling in love. Having said that, I don't think they make a terrible couple and they seem to get on well so Yay from me.
Not sure why your daughter gags at the thought of Liz & Lloyd getting together. It's not as if Liz is immensely older than Lloyd - isn't she supposed to be 52 and he 45? I think they suit each other well - despite Steve's initial outrage (which was truly hilarious, I thought), but he'll get used to it.
Yay, deffo! I thought Craig Charles has been superb recently, really sweet and loveable, and I think, like others have said, he has a great chemistry with Liz. Monday's episodes were classic Corrie and I think there is a lot of comedy mileage in this story line. Hope they last a long time!

What's the difference between Liz and Lloyd and Ken and Deirdre? Ken and Deirdre have a much bigger age gap and they still match, although they are quite different, born in different generations. Ken's closer to Blanche's age than Deirdre. Peter and Leanne are years apart and they still have good chemistry, so what's the problem? If they work, it'll be a success. They said this about Bet and Alec, and they are up there with the great couples such as Stan and Hilda and Jack and Vera. Len and Rita had a good relationship because he was the strong, no-messing man and she the fiery, sexy woman. Ernest and Emily or Derek and Mavis often clashed due to them being the same kind of people.
I was quite surprised to see the small difference in their ages but didn’t Liz have Steve (and Andy) at 17? I can’t see them going for the long haul, I mean has Liz ever stayed the course? But I do think Lloyd needs a lady friend as he is basically quite a lonely character and needs his love life spicing up a bit, but staying the course – so YAY I suppose.
Yay from me. I'm waiting for Lloyd to call Steve "Son" LOL!

Nay from me. I just think it's a bit out of the blue. Although i did find the Steve finds out scene rather amusing and later on with Liz and Lloyd's, "He said you were dead to him." haha
I think they make a good couple and would be good for one another, the scenes that aired on Monday night are the type we need to see more - hilarious! Simon Crowther is a brilliant writer - I'd say a good corrie couple is in sight!

Yay! Definitely! And those scenes on Mon were the funniest that I can remember, I'm glad I started watching Corrie again.

Yay,yay, and yay! Lloyd has had such an unfortunity love life (although I did like him and Kelly together) that Liz may be just what he needs. Hope the powers that be will let them be happy for a few years at least. The comic possiblities with Steve, Lloyd and Liz are endless. Long may it last.
At the moment I'll have to say NAY, because I think they're both too immature at the moment. I would rather see them, especially Liz, grow up.
Yes they do make an ideal couple for Corrie! This and Steve with Becker promises many great story lines. Steve & Lloyd would work well against the WOMEN

Yayy. Neither Lloyd or Liz have had a very good love life and I would like them to last quite a while, even if Steve dont like it.
