Last week we asked: Is Corrie heading in the right direction? The answer was a very resounding "yay" (though Nurse Florence Ganderpoke and Tvor did get sidetracked a bit discussing Peter Barlow's tattoos).
The Windasses have moved to centre stage in Corrie this week, with Gary and Uncle Len robbing copper piping from the builders' yard and Eddie trying to keep his son out of trouble in his own shifty way (Anna has been "at work" so we haven't seen her). How are you taking to this new family? Bearing in mind that it always takes a while for a new family to really settle in (something which only happened with the Mortons just before they left), I quite like them. I particularly like Anna and Eddie, because although they seem like cliched feckless scroungers, there's a lot more to them, and they're played by excellent actors who can bring some depth to the characters. I'm not so sure about Gary in the long term - once we've had enough of him winding David Platt up, I don't know where the character can go, but the genius of the Corrie scriptwriters knows no bounds so we'll see.
But what do you think? Have you taken to the Windasses? Click the comments link to have your say and vote yay or nay.

Nay! Bring back the Mortons!
Nay, not yet anyway. Anna might be ok, and i have a funny feeling she's going to end up on the factory floor eventually just like Janice did. Someone needs to fill Vikki's chair while the actor is on mat leave. I don't like Eddie much and can't stand Gary. Yes he's very one dimensional at this point. And if Tina ends up with him, i'll really really hate it!
Peter Barlow's tattoos...mmmm. Oh, sorry! I digress. Fame at last, I'm mentioned in an article, lol! I'm gonna say NAY at the moment, Ma Windass seems like a bit of a needy headcase, Pa-of-the-horrible hair-weedy-brown-fags- crutches-layabout was much more preferable in the Full Monty/Dinnerladies, 'Feral Chesney' (as they are calling him over at DS) is very unlikeable the way he salivates over Tina and The Uncle in the Sheepskin coat just looks like a ridiculous wannabee Leeeum Gallagher. None of them (at the moment) are in the least bit likeable, BUT I am prepared to give it time...
Let's give them a chance before we write them off. In real life it takes time for people to forge links and build relationships when they move into a new home so lets wait and see what happens.
I think Gary is gorgeous but I'm Irish so maybe it's his hair that does it for me
Jury’s still out for me on this one - I am actually warming to Eddie, especially since he is trying to start a darts team in the Rovers – please let this be genuine and not have him pinch the money. We haven’t seen much of Anna lately, since Christmas in fact – where is she? Don’t like Gary at all with his nasty little ferrety face and can’t understand why Tina is giving him the time of day. I really hope she is not going to end up in bed with him. Uncle Len is a total idiot strutting around in that sheepskin coat like he is a football manager in the 80s. The pair together are bad news.
No, I've not taken to them in the slightest. They're all so pantomime and I can't stand it. I absolutely HATE that cretinous twat Gary; the mum, dad & uncle are so over-the-top that I've taken to fast-forwarding past the lot of them.
Why can't there be any "normal" families moving into the Street? Just nice ordinary people......
Nay. There is nothing redeeming about them. They're not pretty, they have their individual annoying habits, and they aren't mixing in. Do we really need another slacker? Another bad boy? Another mom who thinks her little delinquent is a delightful child? I agree with Dilly, a 'normal' family is needed. And for anyone who says normal is boring, think Joe McIntyre.
I do think they need more time, but the family could work. it will be interesting to see the storylines over the next few months and who they may become more friendly with etc. After throwing out the Mortons - who I think grew on most of us, we don't want another family to go - or we will look like that 2nd rate Eastenders soap!!
Nay - nothing remotely positive to take to about the Windarses has yet emerged, so how can you? Eddie is a benefits-fiddling scrounger who seems to be making money by charging an outrageous £30 per head for people to join his darts team. Gary is a greasy haired, rodent-featured ne'er do well with an nascent criminal record (whose supposed winning over of David's girl is frankly ridiculous and totally incredible, Uncle Len a similarly amoral crook, and Anna Windarse a woman whose heart might be in the right place but whose brain seems to be AWOL most days. I'm disappointed. I thought that after the Battersbys the rule that every other new family had to be headed by an objectionable ginger scrounger had been dropped.
Watching new ep's from Canada, I actually like Anna.
Don't care too much about the rest of them though...
NAY, get rid of them now. They don't fit in and bring nothing to Corrie. They are just annoying and repulsive. I too agree with Dilly and abbyk why can't a normal family move in.
nay, nay, thrice nay. they are yet another set of malevolent cardboard cutouts. she is a nonentity and the husband is actually stomach churning. he seems so disgusting that I can actually smell him from my armchair. the son is just another piece of nastiness and a moron rather like his kinsman who helped out in the robbery. far too much spiteful crime and general nastiness. high time we got back to genuine corrie.
Nay. Anna is just a surprisingly poor actress. Eddie is generic. Gary tries too hard to be tough. They take up too much airtime and have nothing to add. The only one I think has potential is the uncle, Conor.
I hope they meet up with Michelle and all move to Ireland.
Wouldn't "normal" be boring?
Yay. I have. I think there is a "hoodoo" over bringing new families into Corrie. People will just dislike them because they are new. I have been guilty of it in the past when the Morton's arrived. But they were quite poor on arrival, ill-conceived and were too big in number, then of course they were just wasted, with the producers being scared to include them too much after the initial criticism.
The Windasses as a unit work. The uncle has been sporadic, but that's okay. Mum Anna has shown a real side to her. The shield has been dropped to allow the viewers in quite early on. She is personable and i find it impossible how anyone could not feel sorry for her. Eddie is feckless but wants the best for his son. What father doesn't? Gary is just the typical street kid. Chavtastic, with attitude and extremely egocentric.
They have been introduced well, not too over the top and given time to settle and bed in, i think will prove to be welcome characters. So despite the resounding nay's. It is a big YAY from me. I hope they beat the 'hoodoo'.
Though i still miss the Mortons and can't wait to have Teresa back.
We'll see where they go, I would love the Mortons to return, but let's give this family a chance for the next few months and we'll see what happens.
YAY!, Come on guys, they are VERY entertaining!;), We have Eddie who is doing lots of his own little scams but is really an alright guy!, Anna, is also trying to be a nice mum but loves her family and will do anything to protect the,!, Gary is a really good, annoying character, a good 'villain', it's funny with him, David and Tina, and Uncle Len, well, I don't really like him!, We will have to see, The Mortons were also good by the end but they didn't make the impact like The Windasses have done :D
YAY!!! I think they're just the right thing that Corrie needs! Plus Debbie (Anna) teaches me at MSA and she's really good!
The Uncle is called Len, Carl.
Personally, I'm half and half really. I like Eddie as long as he continues to genuinely try and fit in somewhat (i.e the darts team) without reverting back to local crook stereotype. Anna I liked at first but got bored of fast.
And now the other two, Len is just laughable with that stupid coat strutting around thinking he's Mr. Big, and Gary.. all I can say is if Tina ends up with that runt it'd be quite laughable too. I don't see where Gary can go from here either.
Yay and Nay for me at the moment. The parents are based too much on the hype of Les and Janice and need to be their 'own' characters. The son is just irritating and the uncle hasn't featured enough yet to comment. Anna is definately the best so far though, IMO.
I also think they are still quite isolated, despite the scenes they have had so far. Of course though, time is the key matter in all these hiccups and (hopefully) they will soon feel like regular members of the Street. I wouldn't want yet another new family to be axed only for us to realise they did have potential four weeks before they depart.
Anna could fit into the factory, but I don't know where her story line would go, I feel I need a shower after seeing Eddie and I want to hose him done as he looks so scrungy, Gary is just here to wind David up, don't see where he could go, definitely not after Tina, that makes the stomach hurl and would make her out to be another skank, Uncle Len is a waste of screen space.
Nay.
They make the Battersbys look quite nice.... although Toyah and Leanne have/were much improved since their arrival
Michael: No, "normal" wouldn't be boring. Remember the Malletts - that's the kind of family I mean, and they weren't in the least boring. Just a nice, ordinary couple.
Simon: Very entertaining??? You are joking, right?
The whole family make me feel physically sick and I don't call that entertaining.
Well, at the end of the day it is just a show.
I'm a fan like the rest of you, and don't really enjoy picking it apart.
You're on the wrong website then Michael. LOL.
NAY Rubbish
