Yay or nay: do you watch every episode of Coronation Street?

Comments (43)

In last week's yay or nay we asked: have you taken to the Windasses? And it's bad news for the new family on the block, because the verdict was 27% yay, 18% undecided, and a fairly convincing 55% say nay. "They are just annoying and repulsive," according to Mags.

This week, please reveal your viewing habits. Now we have Sky+ and other handy test-card.jpgrecording devices, as well as internet catch-ups, there isn't any reason to miss your favourite television programme. Or is there? Is Corrie on just too many times a week for you to watch every single episode? Or have certain storylines made you switch off? What I'd like to know is: do you watch every episode of Coronation Street? Click the comments link to have your say and vote yay or nay.

I do watch every single episode. Even though you can probably catch up even if you miss one or two, I feel cheated if I don't catch every single scene. In fact, I was in Australia for three weeks in Nov 08 and sky+ them all for the duration. It took me three or four days to catch up and even had to record current episodes until as such time as I finished watching my "missed ones"

Yes, I have watched practically every episode of Corrie ever since it first started. Sometimes I get a bit fed up when I think the script writing isn't as good as usual, but I still stick with it.

Most definitely a YAY.

Couldn't survive without Corrie - well ... a bit of an overstatement, but I love it.

Yay I do because i download them and well,,, considering i work for this joint ;) it's my job!

It's a YAY from me, but sometimes it's on as background noise and I'm only half concentrating. Mainly cos I'm irritated (read that as SICK TO DEATH) of Me-Me-Me-Michelle, Whiney Slapper Maria or Dozy Rosie. However, if I have missed an episode, I will generally catch up with it either vai the weekend omnibus, or on-line.

That's a bit of a daft question as far as I'm concerned. I religiously watch every episode when they're on AND sky+ it at the same time, it's on a series link anyway. My kids grew up knowing that everything stops when Coronation Street is on. Even if I'm away, I'll either find a way of watching it when it's on or catch up as soon as I'm home. I've watched it since it started and always will.

So that's a resounding YAY from me.

Yes, I see every episode. In fact i've not missed an ep since 1981! If i've been out i've recorded it, or if i've been away either recorded it or watched it away.

Ah, good old corrie, I always watch it but I have somthing on or I'm busy I tape it on SKY+ and watch it before the next episode airs, I hate missing episodes so I never do!

Yes, although sometimes I wonder why I bother.

Are you kidding me?? Corrie makes me anticipate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays! I've been watching religiously since about 2002, and I'm always looking out for Corrie episodes prior to that to download.

I do - I am in Canada so if I miss an episode during the week (fortunately I have satellite so I can choose to watch at any time over 5 time zones) I can catch the omnibus version on Sunday mornings - gotta love CBC!

Yay! I've not missed an episode since the late 80s. This includes the year that I lived in France. I left a VCR and a supply of tapes with a friend who would send me compilations every 4 to 6 weeks so I could get my fix.

Two years ago when the CBC started to show CS in HD, I added a larger hard drive to my PVR before I took a 3 week vacation to make sure I wouldn't run out of space.

Pathetic? Maybe a little :)

Yay!

I work late on a Monday and Wednesday so I catch up on ITV2 (Even though it's on so bloody late!!) later in the evening.
If, for some strange reason, I happened to miss an episode I would catch up online or pop round my neighbours' as she records it :)

Same goes for the Yorkshire-based soap, but I often catch the omnibus of that.

I never miss an episode, however, if Michelle is in a scene I may nip out of the room to do chores etc. as she bores me rigid.

YAY, either watch them or video them on my good old fashioned VCR. When I went on holiday I used to look forward to watching 12 episodes back to back.

Sometimes I get fed up with it with irritating characters, the lack of continuity and far fetched ridiculous storylines but it is like a drug, cant give it up and its part of my every day life!

I agree with Dilly Daydream. Of course I watch Corrie.

Now, I havent seen FOTW for ages, so maybe a new section for Feb or March?

You mentioned you had Sky+, so what if you paused some bits on characters while they are in the middle of talking, and it may look funny or something like that?

While my mam was doign soemthing last night, we had to pause it and I came across a funny picture of Gary Windass and his ugly face pointing at Jason, it was him wasnt it?

Think about it.

I absolutely always watch every episode. I live in Canada so sometimes even watch them 2 or 3 times. You can't miss a show or you miss out on the story.
I just got a receiver with the PVR option and I love it as I am forsure never to miss a show.
Keep up the great work!

yay and nay. I tend to forget to watch if my wife isn't here to watch with me.

Yay, even if i miss it, i always use the catch up on itv.com

I couldnt live without it!

I have stopped watching 'Corrie'. Most of the goodactors are not in it any more and some if not all of the young ones don't know how to act and besides that the stories are about the same but with different people. It used to be one of my favorite shows but not any more.

Yay, I watch every episode, if I miss one I watch the omnibus.

Yes, it's what V+ (Sky + for cable) was invented for and if you start watching a bit late you can watch from the beginning and skip past the ads.. I used to hate coming back from holidays and not know what was going on. Watched it for over 30 years.

I watch every episode. As another Canadian viewer mentioned, I can record it from 5 time zones so I record it when it shows in Atlantic Canada ( 4 time zones earlier than Vancouver - 7:00PM in Halifax, Nova Scotia is 3:00PM in Vancouver) so it is waiting for me when I get home from work. When I go away on holidays, all episodes get recorded so I can catch up when I return. Whenever an episode doesnt get recorded, I read up on what I missed on www.corrie.net

Yes every esp.

I watch every episode, and have done for years.
I even tape while I watch, in case I get distracted by the telephone or something.

You can't be serious!! I have this thing called a life, it tends to "interfere" with Corrie at times. As much as I love the show, I can function without seeing every single episode!!

Oh yes, yay! Another Canadian who watches each episode during the week and tapes Sunday's omni to pick up the snipits that are cut out on the weekdays. Enjoy having a stack of back episodes to dip into now and then.

Wow, I'm really surprised at the overwhelming "Yay" responses! For me it's a "Nay". For the last couple of years I find I can take it or leave it: if I'm home in time to catch Corrie I'll watch it, but I don't care if I miss a couple of episodes each week. I think my apathy is a combination of getting updates from the net (so I always know what is going on, who's who, etc.) and 5 episodes per week overload. I know I watched more religiously when it was just 3 times per week. It may also be because I follow the current storylines in England, so by the time we see them here in Canada I feel like I don't need to watch them because I already know what is going to happen!

I simply *have* to watch every episode!!

Corr blimey, of course i watch every single second of every single scene of every single episode. i record it too and if it's a goodun i watch it again later :) if i happen to be out painting the town red when my dear corrie is on i'll record it and one of my friends always does a little summation of the episode and sends it to me via text so i get all excited about the episode that's at home waiting for me. i know i know i am just too cool for school!

It's a nay for us. We used to watch it every time it was on for over 20 years, and even record those episodes when we where away from the TV. However, the story lines have become just to strange to watch, with some new ones conflicting with old ones and others simply disappearing without an ending. Sad as there are some good actors on the show. Oh well all things must pass.

I never miss an episode of Corrie. But the Windasses are REPULSIVE and so UGLY. The young one looks like a slug who crawled out from under a CABBAGE LEAF. They are really disgusting to watch - the fast forward button beckons...

Yay! I watch every episode and my DVD recorder is set to record every night from 7pm to 8pm (to cover those sneaky double episodes the CBC likes to put in) just in case :-)

Dee - I'm sure most people here have lives, hence catching up via other methods if they miss it.

I work an awful lot, have a perfectly good social life, and still manage to watch every episode

i try and watch every episode but if im going out then most of the time i forget to record fridays episodes :(

Am afraid its a nay from me, I always used to watch every episode and tape it when I was out but then Steve Frost took over as Producer and ruined it, the final straw being Michelle and the child swap story, absolutely ridiculous. He had no love for the programme but now Kim Crowther has taken over and she seems to understand the importance of the shows past and mix of drama and comedy and characterisation so although I am enjoying it again and try to watch it I dont like the 2 episodes on a Monday and Friday, I think 4 episode a week would be enough. Hopefully it will continue to improve and then I will start watching every episode again but at the moment if i miss an episode I just catch up on here :-)

Webs - I couldn't agree more!!

And to the Nay-Sayers, I've grown up with Coronation Street, it's part of my life and I really look forward to a bit of 'me' time when it's on. It's the only soap I watch, and of course there are times when characters/storylines are introduced that I just can't stand, but I still watch it because anything that can make your blood boil has to be good drama.

In my humble opinion.

yay, most definitely. and if im not in, i tape it!

Never miss it. I feel a bit smug because I download every episode and watch it a year before they get here to Canada. Drives me mum-in-law bonkers that I know what's going to happen long before she gets to see it.

Yay, and as an American with no access to the CBC, I watch it in a way that I'm sure is illegal or at least unethical.

I watch every day, I have watched Coronation street sine i was a young child My Granny got me hooked.

Over 40 comments, that must be a record!

Yes! But I sometimes have to miss some, which I hate doing, The ITV Catchup is absolutely rubbish and doesn't work for me, but I sometimes catch the omnibus!
