Molly may be getting hitched on Monday but the woman who portrays her, Vicky Binns, says that Ty and Molly's bumpy road to the altar may have put her right off marriage. She talks about the whole experience to Ian Wylie in the MEN. A traditional wedding is just so over the top and a soap wedding is a long and tedious affair to add on to it. It took two weeks to film all the scenes for the wedding and through it all, Vicky had to wear the lovely wedding dress, designed by her friend, James Steward. Vicky has a boyfriend but isn't ready to tie the knot yet and after seeing all the preparations for a traditional wedding, is pretty sure that's not the way to go for her.
The wedding dress, worn for two weeks, is going to be auctioned for charity. Vicky loved the dress and was really careful with it at first but jokes "I think I was blowing my nose on it at the end". She also talks about the storyline, where one disaster followed another in the young couple's romance en route to wedded bliss. We've already seen them split up and just recently reconcile but it doesn't end there. Molly's mother-in-law from hell, Jackie Dobbs, crashes the hen party and causes trouble at the wedding. Tyrone nearly doesn't make it to the church on time but when he does, it all comes out right in the end. There's a moment when Vera is remembered and then it's time for the honeymoon but even then, things don't go as planned. "Molly and Tyrone are destined for an unglamorous life, aren't they?" sighs Vicky. "But I love working with Alan and we always have such a laugh. It's a privilege to be in the show."
There's more of the interview in The Life of Wylie. Vicky explains that Eric Potts, who played her dad Diggory on Corrie, is busy appearing in a Panto so couldn't be scheduled to appear. She also talks about the row that split up Molly at Tyrone and says she did end up siding with her character. She's also glad that Bill Tarmey is back as Jack after a time off screen and says there are plans for Jack in the new year. She loves the brilliant scripts lately and hopes that continues as well.
