Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo's plans for wedded bliss

Weddings are very much on the agenda for Alan Halsall (Tyrone) and his fiancee Lucy-Jo Hudson (who played Katy Harris on Coronation Street). Alan's character gets married next week, and next month the character Lucy-Jo plays in Wild At Heart will also get married.

Lucy-Jo has been talking to Reveal magazine about how Alan proposed to her in real life. "It was so beautiful and romantic," she says of the proposal, which happened while they were on holiday in Abu Dhabi. "I was so misty-eyed I could hardly see him. I wanted to scream with excitement!" She's proud of the fact...

that Alan did the traditional thing and asked her father for her hand in marriage. "He showed great respect for my dad, and my dad loved him for that," she says.

She's quitting Wild At Heart soon, partly because she's been in the show for four years and fancies a fresh challenge, and partly because filming in South Africa keeps her apart from Alan so much. "I'm looking forward to spending more time at home," she says. "After Alan and I are married, we'd definitely like kids. But I'd like to enjoy being married for a couple of years first."

Meanwhile in the same magazine, Alan describes getting engaged as "the biggest highlight of my life." When asked about his domestic capablities he says cooking isn't really his strength, and nor is cleaning which he mainly leaves to Lucy-Jo. He can't do DIY either. But what he brings to the relationship is "humour." As long as he can keep Lucy-Jo laughing while she's scrubbing out the toilet bowl, they'll be fine.
