Hour-long episode written by Damon Rochefort
Carla and Tony's wedding, and one of the best Corrie episodes I've seen for ages. Blanche, as always, set the tone, as she grumbled about not being invited. Deirdre pointed out that they hardly knew Carla and Tony. "Amy's father's living with Carla's ex-sister-in-law," Blanche pointed out. "We're practically family."
As Tony, resplendent in his Gordon clan kilt, waited nervously for the arrival of his bride, Janice offered herself as substitute should Carla be a no-show. "Women like me don't grow on trees," she said. Sally replied, "Just swing from 'em." Sally, always happy for a bit of social climbing, was loving every minute of being at a posh wedding - the pink champagne, the opportunity to dress up in a posh outfit. But when, ceremonials concluded and the reception in full swing, a drunk and grumpy Kevin started taking issue with the cost of Sally's dress in front of Carla, it all turned sour...
and Kevin's plate of guacamole ("I thought it were mushy peas") ended up tipped all over Carla's fabulous purple frock. Carla snapped: "I realise your family don't usually come to places that use metal cutlery." Sally was humiliated. After Tony proposed a toast to Liam, Maria got upset and went off by herself for a cry. Sally followed her - and told her about Liam and Carla's affair, even showing her Rosie's mobile phone footage. Accompanied by that Green Day song about having the time of your life, Maria ran through the hotel screaming for Carla, but Carla and Tony had already left for their honeymoon.
Elsewhere, Steve's bad boyfriend campaign had led to Michelle telling him not to bother coming to the wedding, which suited him fine - he'd be spending the afternoon working in t'Rovers with Becky. Anyone who still doubts that Steve and Becky aren't perfect together need only to see them dancing together to the Ting Tings. Their fun was spoiled by Blanche, who was taking advantage of keeping their secret by allowing herself to be bribed with free gin and tonic. When she was joined at the bar by Jed Stone, she felt the afternoon had been quite well-spent after all, wedding or no wedding.
Norris had a visitor - his fellow competition freak, Mary. She brought him a pair of cufflinks she'd won, and he was able to reciprocate by giving her a pair of lawn-aerating flip flops that he'd won and had no use for, what with having no garden and all.
Peter forgot to pick Simon up from school. He was busy paying out a lot of money to Graeme, who'd won on the horses.

Classic lines today from: Blanche, Norris, Sally and Jed. I was disappointed that Emily didn't make an appearance, after she was mentioned in last week's previews.
Does anyone know where the green dress comes from that Maria was wearing in tonights show (3.12.08) at Carla's wedding?
Thanks
I thought todays episode was good and didn't want it to end :( ha. Blanche always seems to be able to liven things up and shes a great character. Carla and Tony's wedding looked fab.
Does anyone know where you can buy the green gress that Michelle Connor was wearing in last night's show to Carla's wedding??
I enjoyed the episode. Brilliance from Blanche and Jed; a cut above. Graeme and Tina's cameos were good, too.
I didn't mind the wedding charade, although I find anything to do with Tony Gordon -unless it's Jed taunting him!- rather boring. He's such an unconvincing villain; a mish-mash of cliches, with little direction. I'll be extremely disappointed if and when he kills Jed. Keep Jed, kill Tony!
Hi there Id like to know where Michelle's green dress came from last night on the show...if anyone has any idea id be grateful!!!!!!!!!!
Good episode but I think that Sally the bitch should now get the sack from the factory. Does she not realise that it's not Carla she would be upsetting but poor Maria. I think this bit is a bit farfetched, no-one would be that nasty or that stupid, unless of course she hates Maria as well.
Both Sally and Rosie for breaking the confidence in the first place should get their marching orders. How silly was Kevin behaving and a bit out of character. Would Sally really upset a pregnant woman like that, especially one whose previous baby had died, I dont think so, all too contrivied and I hate to say this but Jed is beginning to grate a little, too much of a smart alec lately, not only with Tony but with Norris.
I'm still having problems understanding why they invited Kevin Webster to the wedding, and why Sally didn't tell him off for embarrassing her with his drunken behaviour (before she too got plastered that is). They might as well have invited Jed Stone as well.
Did Tarantino direct this episode? That whole sequence with Maria kicking in all the doors while screaming for Carla was not very Corrie (I loved it though).
They seem to have gotten a guest hairdresser and make-up artist for the episode too - Sally looked beautiful and Michelles hair was amazing.
Blanche was her usual self (the funniest character on TV although I really wish they wouls give her some lines that just sound normal instead of lines that are obviously crafted and honed to perfection
The best episode I have seen for a long time, brilliantly written, directed and acted. It kept my attention the whole time and there were plenty of chuckles. Nearly every scene was a little gem. When Maria ran through the building opening every door looking for Carla, her one brain cell in overload, you wanted to shout at the screen "they're all outside Maria" like you do in Panto. Love the newcomers Graeme, Jed Stone, Mary (Norris new friend) and not forgetting Teresa.
Loved the episode! The Websters getting plastered was priceless. I always seem to be the one who moans about things like this but why the hell has there suddenly appeared a new door at the back of the rovers?? Its that phatom decorator again!!!
Does anyone know what song was piped at the beginning of the wedding? My sister wants this at her wedding and dont know it.???
