I thought an end-of-year look back through the answers to our weekly yay or nay questions might be interesting as a way of seeing how Corrieblog readers have been feeling about the show through the last 12 months.
A lot of yay-or-nays dealt with individual characters, and of these there was huge approval for Molly and Tyrone, Tina McIntyre, Auntie Pam and particularly Carla Connor (or Gordon as we must now call her). Characters who've now left the show such as the Masons, Vernon Tomlin and the Mortons (Jerry and Teresa at least) were very popular with you too. One character who was widely disliked was Michelle Connor.
Michelle's effect on Steve...
was one of the reasons we haven't been fans of hers this year, and there was quite a vocal yay to the question "Has Michelle been bad news for Steve?" We put other relationships under the yay or nay spotlight. You approved of Dan Mason and Leanne as a couple, but as we know that one didn't work out. Nor did Liz and Vernon's marriage, which you predicted wouldn't last due to Liz's inability to stay faithful. You thought Becky and Jason was a total mismatch, whereas Becky and Steve together was pronounced to be a perfect combination. Though that could possibly be just to get Steve away from the dreaded Michelle. The tragic romance of the year was Carla and Liam, and most of you agreed that Carla had truly loved Liam. One romance that had most of you reaching for the sick bucket was Dev and Tara. Or Dev and Nina. In fact, Dev and anyone.
Storyline-wise, Liam's fall from a Lake District cliff in January left you cold, apart from the lovely scenery, but his eventual death did have you gripped. One story that certainly didn't grip was the Michelle/Ryan/Alex baby swap plot which was described as "the most boring storyline in years." This was also cited as a reason why so many of you thought in March that Corrie was in a slump. Fingers were also pointed in the direction of outgoing producer Steve Frost.
Moral dilemmas have been thrown at you during the year in yay or nay, and you've responded most wisely. David Platt went too far when he pushed Gail down the stairs, you felt (although one wicked Corrieblogger experienced a "twinge of glee" as Gail fell). When David subsequently went on a wrecking spree around the Street wish an iron bar, most of you would have tackled him. But you weren't disapproving of all this violence - when asked if there was too much of it on Corrie the answer was a resounding nay, fight fans.
Here's looking forward to another year of Corrie conundrums every Wednesday in yay or nay.

A great post that sums up one of the best regular features on this site. I for one enjoy contributing on Yay or Nays? However, i do have to be bothered about the topic to want to contribute. For instance, a recent one that springs to mind first, was Carla's wedding dress. I wasn't bothered about that ENOUGH to comment. Overall, though the feature is brilliant. It allows interaction amongst current features on the show (storylines, characters etc), giving us, the fans, a real valued chance to have our say. It was also nice to be listened to with the decision to bring back Teresa Bryant next year!
Perhaps it could be widened some weeks next year when current Yay or Nay content is thin on the ground. Maybe it could include debates about the past on the show, previous characters, ideas for the future in someway. Some sort of expansion of the feature for the new year would be good.
Thanks Sue!
I love love love doing my weekly yay or nay. I also havea good old giggle at the other answers. I am so glad that Carla Connor (i refuse to call her Gordon) has got such a good reception this year, Alison King is fabulous as her.
I actually like Steve and Michelle together :(
