Yay or nay: is there any way that Tony could stay in Corrie once the truth is out?

Comments (7)

Last week we asked: are Steve and Becky the perfect couple? There were strong opinions on both sides, but in the end 60% answered with a yay. Cobblestone said "This is the sort of coupling (if you'll pardon the expression!)that has made Corrie legendary."

18_8_tony.jpgThis week we return to that favourite yay or nay topic, good vs evil. It's Tony Gordon I'm thinking about, and particularly a quote from Samia Smith (Maria) in the latest Inside Soap. She says, "I'd like Tony to get his comeuppance eventually - but he's such a good character that we don't want him to leave!" I agree with that remark, but we know that villains have a short shelf-life in soaps. Is there any way that Tony's character could stay in Coronation Street once his crime is discovered? As well as clicking the comments link to say yay or nay, you might like to put your scriptwriting hats on (mine is turquoise for creativity) and work out a way for him to stay.

No i think not. But i'd love him too! He's fabby!

we all know that soap bad boys leave eventually but i really hope he stays i know he went mad by killing liam & wot not but he is such a good actor and it would be a shame, but i doubt he'll stay but if he did maybe he could make michelle his next victim mwahahaha

NAY I don't see how a murderer could stay on the show in the long run. Jimmy Dockerson isn't going to go down without a fight and he'll take Tony with him.

Sure, keep in the show..only give him the appropriate punishment...the cell next to Tracy...those two are made in heaven or hell if you prefer.....(I am the rare bird that can't stand Liam Connor nor the pompous guy who plays him...I mean when Ma Connor told these boys to go out and play in traffic I guess she really meant it..so uncreative to have Paul, Dean and Liam die by car....

Definitely as Eric Pollard has been going for years in the Dales, also Carl is still going strong. Phil Mitchell in Eastenders and many, many bad boys keep on going for years and not only in soaps.

So a definitely yay Tony can be kept on for years to come all it needs is plenty of thought (if you get stuck just ask moi!!)

Yay keep Tony.

The only reason i am saying yay is because i like Tony. I was glad he organised Liam's killing as he got on my wick and i wish someone had done it sooner.

However, Corrie have always been morally rooted in ensuring that all 'baddies' receive their payback. Always. Without fail. So presumably Tony will get his, eventually. It is a relatively uniques situation we have with Tony's character though in that there are still long term plans for the character and the viewers really like him, despite being evil.

I want him to stay. Gray O'Brien is doing a great job and boosts the phwoar factor of the Street nicely!
