The first colour episode was shown 17th November - one week before. Both BBC1 and ITV started colour transmissions on Saturday 15th November. (BBC2 had started with limited colour programmes on 1st July 1967 and full service colour on 1st December of the same year). The first episode of Coronation Street was definately on 15th November - I've seen the TV Times for the week in question and Corrie is definately in the colour line-up.
John - you may be right. Daran Little gives 24 November 1969 as the date in his book, but there are one or two errors in that book occasionally. Does anyone else have any more information? [Sue H]
