News just in via those marvellous people at Digital Spy. The latest big name star being linked with a role in Coronation Street is Stephanie Beacham, the glamorous actress who played Sable Colby in Dynasty. The list of her acting credits is vast - have a look here. She has also competed in Strictly Come Dancing.
She's apparently being considered for a role as "love interest" for Ken Barlow, although other people are also being auditioned.
Poor Deirdre. Even at the age of 106 (or whatever he is), Ken is showing no signs of slowing down romance-wise.
Fabulous! Perhaps Sable Colby (the campest creation ever seen on television, bar none) could buy the Rovers. That would be just too perfect.
Deirdre needs a bit of romance and excitement in her life, especially after going a "senior persons" coach trip.
No, no, no, no!!!! I hate that they always pull this. It wasn't so long ago that Denise was back (and there haven't been any references at all to Ken seeing his son again, the one he promised to build a relationship with!) and now we get another "love interest"? Bleck!!! And if the writers just can't see Ken and Deirdre happy, can't she get a little side action as well?!?!
Every few years Ken gets a touch bored with Dierdre and so the writers wheel out another woman for him to have a thing for! Mind you, another new edition apparently could be Norris's brother, possibly played by Andrew Sachs!
Presumably the current set of writers haven't realised this storyline's been done to death.
