New Coronation Street factory boss announced

craig-kelly-2811.jpgTony Gordon's troubles are just beginning. No sooner will he get married to Carla than Maria will start to have suspicions that he murdered Liam. Then his marriage with Carla will break down and she disappears (Alison King needs to go off on maternity leave for a few months). Then Tony finds there's a new majority shareholder at the factory.

His name is Luke Strong, which is so Mills & Boon hero it's brilliant. He'll be played by Craig Kelly, who's best known for playing the role of Vince in the UK series Queer as Folk (video clip here). Luke is apparently going to be a factory boss in the Liam mould - the factory girls will love his charm and good looks - but there'll be some mystery surrounding him as Tony won't know what his connection is to Carla.

I'm really looking forward to this. I loved Craig Kelly in QAF and I like the idea of Tony Gordon, who's a man who needs to feel in control, having the rug pulled out from under him at every turn.

He was very good in QAF, but i hope his character will be a bit stronger and able to stand up to Tony.

I have mixed feelings about this. I'm disappointed because I thought Bradley Walsh was returning. I think he has been the best factory boss since Mike left. On the other hand I too loved Craig Kelly in QAF and would love to see him again. As long as Carla doesn't get her claws into him! As far as I'm concerned if Alison King never returned from maternity leave it would be great for the show. Never liked the character of Carla, and fast-forward over all her scenes.

Craig has a Charlie Stubbs look about him, maybe it's the squinty eyes. If he is going to be a nice guy that must be the only resemblance.

This casting does intrigue me because i am looking forward to seeing the dynamic between him and Tony. It will just stoke Tony's growing insecurity even further. That is when Tony is most dangerous so it could be exciting to watch.

It's going to be a little strange though seeing him interacting with Anthony Cotton in the factory ... and is Denise Osborne ever comes back with Daniel, it's going to seem like a parallel universe, since she played Craig's mother and Anthony's landlady in QAF.

Craig Kelly,is a brilliant actor in anything iv'e seen him in .cant wait to see him in corrie.this is going to be exiting Luke &Tony they are two strong actors.so good luck Craig xx
