Coronation Street Out of Africa - Guardian review

1Coro_St_Out_Of_Africa_DVD.jpgThe first proper review out of the gate for Coronation Street: Out of Africa can be read over at the Guardian website by author Lucy Mangan. Be warned, there are spoilers in the review, She's not too keen on it, to say the least. She doesn't give away the ending but you can pretty much read between the lines and figure it out. It sounds to me like a typical Battersby romp but if you like the character of Cilla, it will be more of the usual Cilla-shenanigans. Storylines for Corrie spin-off specials (and dvds) tend to be less involved since they are isolated from the normal stream of the main show's storylines. The best one was probably the very first one, Curly and Raquel's honeymoon on the QEII, accompanied by Mavis, Rita and Alec. I love to hate Cilla and I really like Kirk, Chesney and Fiz so I think I might enjoy the DVD which is on my Christmas list. Your mileage may vary. There's a bit of a preview here and a gallery of photos here.

It sounds as dreadful as I was expecting it to be. I'll be avoiding this like the plague - couldn't bear Cilla and have no wish to be reacquainted with her.

The first review for this was actually in The Sun. And it made very different reading - getting 4 out of 5.
