tyrone-dobbs.jpgThis week's Coronation Street fan of the week is Rachel Boothroyd. She's 18 and lives with her mum, dad, two sisters, one brother and one guinea pig in a semi detached house in Bolton, England.

How long have you been watching Coronation Street?
I have been watching Coronation Street for the whole of my 18 years, due to my Manchester-born dad! My earliest memory of it was when Steve McDonald pushed his dad Jim off the scaffolding. I must've been seven or eight at the time.

Who's your favourite character?
My favourite characters would have to be either Becky or Tyrone. Tyrone's such a nice lad and Becky's character is so complex yet so amusing and well played.

What's been your Corrie highlight or favourite story?
My Corrie highlight is the Richard Hillman storyline because it was so unpredictable. Even now when the "You and Me Song" by the Wannadies comes on the radio, I call it the Richard Hillman song! I also loved pretty much every storyline that occurred in 2004, especially all the Karen, Steve and Tracy stuff.

What would be your Fantasy Coronation Street storyline?
My fantasy storyline is having Norris, Julie, Pam and Blanche all in a room together, just talking. I think it'd be hilarious.

Have you ever visited the Street set, met any of the cast, or do you own any Corrie memorabilia?
I visited the Corrie set around ten years ago and it's on of my dreams to go again, since I don't really remember it. I've never met any of the cast myself, but Ryan Thomas walked passed me in Manchester and I've seen Sally Whittaker buying a piano in a music shop. When I went in to get her autograph, she'd disappeared. However, my dad works in Manchester and has been fortunate to get Antony Cotton (Sean)'s, Jennie McAlpine (Fiz)'s, Jean Alexander (Hilda)'s, Sue Nicholls (Audrey)'s, Tina O'Brien (Sarah)'s, Ryan Thomas (Jason)'s and Maggie Jones (Blanche)'s autograph. The emorabilia I have is several books, a signed publicity photo from 2002 and press photos. I also created my own magazine, Corrie Weekly, for three years with my sister, producing over 150 issues.

Very nice to meet you Rachel. I'm glad to read that young people are still watching. Your Dad has some great autographs, lucky him I'm jealous..:) I was very impressed that you had created your own magazine. Well done!

... pleased to 'meet' you, Rachel ... and imagine ... you and your sister creating a magazine together for three years ... well done!
... I have been watching Corrie since it was filmed in black & white and the eppies were fifteen minutes in duration so, yes, I am long in the tooth ... LOL! ... but I have to say that Tyrone is also one of my favourites an'all.
... on this side of the pond, we have just lost r'beloved Vee and more than once, I was moved to tears by Ty's kind gestures in an effort to comfort Paul ... and not for the first time, I celebrated his strength of character ... for in those moments, in my mind anyroad, he was honouring Vera.

... was a smidge too quick on the draw there ... LOL!

Glenda: ... meant to add that our wee four-legged daughter turns to face the screen and tilts her head from left to right, back and forth, every time the Corrie theme song is played ... bless.
