There's nothing that grumpy gran Blanche Hunt enjoys more than a funeral. But, failing that, she also enjoys sitting in on a nice, juicy trial.
Settling down in court next week to watch Becky's trial, Blanche is no doubt surprised to see the star witness for the defence - Steve McDonald. And you can just picture Steve's face when he notices who's in the public gallery. Now, as well as lying to the court in an effort to convince them Becky's innocent, he also has to convince Blanche that he was simply helping out a friend in trouble.
That's only the start of Steve's problems, though, as he realises that he's in love with Becky. Now all he has to do is find a way to tell Michelle. And keep Blanche quiet in the meantime.

In a video interview on ITV.com, Katherine Kelly (Becky) talks about the day of the trial.
"It's a real mixture of emotions," she says of the hour-long episode. "It takes you right through Becky waking up and thinking 'this is it, this is the end of my life on Coronation Street with the Croppers, I've let them down, I've nearly got Steve in trouble, I'm back to square one. She's putting on a brave face in front of Hayley and Roy but she's really fed up."
The worst thing for Becky, according to Katherine, is knowing that everything is out of her control because it hinges on whether Steve will testify for her. "All her eggs are in Steve's basket!" she says. "Deep down she knows his loyalties have to be with Michelle, so she lets him off the hook. But it's really up and down and she's really off-balance - it's another side of Becky that we haven't seen before."
She describes the moment that Steve turns up on his white horse (or a Streetcar, at least). "Her case is adjourned till the afternoon and she's gone outside for a smoke and Steve turns up and she can't believe it, it's a little ray of hope. He promises he'll get back for the afternoon - and he does. So she goes from total depression to total elation because he saves the day for her." And the day just keeps getting better. "Steve kisses her in front of Hooch, because they've been having this made-up affair. She tells him they don't have to pretend any more, but then he tells her he's not pretending."
Hurrah! True love for Becky and Steve! But life's never easy on Corrie. "There's a few obstacles in the way," says Katherine. "There's Michelle, and Jason's back on the scene, but even worse than that there's a very meddling old woman who sticks her nose in and is very good at bribery - she might mess things up for them along the way!"
