Yay or nay: is there too much violence on Coronation Street?

Comments (12)

Last week we asked, is Rosie Webster worse than David Platt?, and your verdict was nay - she has a way to go before she can snatch the crown from the Prince of Evil.

ken-mike-110.jpgI've just been reading Tvor's latest Corrie slap count, and Weatherfield has been positively ringing with the sound of palms smacking faces. Next week promises more violence, with Sally and Janice having a catfight and Becky smacking Jason and going on a smashing spree. So this week please discuss the question: is there too much violence on Coronation Street? Click the comments link to have your say and vote yay or nay.

Nay!! Not that I've noticed. (Sometimes I think too many deaths. I think Corrie has more marriages break up and more unknown children show up and more deaths than normal.) Not violence though.

I'm watching the boxed set of Coronation Street 1960s ... I've already come across one verbal barney between Elsie Tanner & Ena Sharples ... I remember watching, during the 70s & 80s, verbal barneys between Elsie & Hilda ... I also remember the punch Ken Barlow gave Mike Baldwin over his affair with Deirdre ...

Let's face it: Coronation Street was a grotty back street when first it aired and, though it is no longer grotty, the folk haven't changed that much ... As in any street/square/neighbourhood that lives close together, you're going to get more than the odd fracas, and fisticuffs happen at the drop of a hat when feelings are hot enough ...

Nay!, Not at all! Remember a while back when the papers where going on about how bad the girl gang thing with Mel and Abi is.... in reality It lasted about two seconds and wasn't bad at all!...I actually love the violence, tee hee, i like the dramatic bits! :D

Long overdue is one thing, but they've gone a bit slap-silly i think. Yay from me

Too much of Deirdre's orange cleavage definately! Violence? Um, tough one. NAY. Just right. No more mind.

Yes, I too enjoy a good catfight on the cobbles,or anywhere else, and agree with flaming Nora, there is too much cleavage - at least Liz and Carla have got something big and droopy to show off. I don't know why Becky, Mel, Maria, Michelle and the rest bother, there's nothing to see except scrawny ribs (Miao!).

Nay. Corrie is set in England, where there is a lot of violence. So I think to make it realistic, yes there should be moderate of violence. There should be some amounts, and limits - but Corrie surly hasnt gone over that limit yet?

Are you kidding??? Who doesn't like a long overdue featherruffling?

  • bob

Remember the good old cat fight between Elsie Tanner and Hilda Ogden. We need more of these.

Pity that Charlie didn't actually drown David.

  • Don't know about the violence but there's WAY too much cleavage at the minute! ;-)

  • lyam neal

    nay

  • Clare

Pfft nay. I love a good old catfight on the cobbles.
