Tuesday Trivia, Did You Know?

And here we are in October already! Wow, time flies! October on Coronation Street seems to have turned into Wedding month in recent years, with Sarah and Jason tying the knot last year and Les and Cilla (illegally) marrying a couple of years before that. Eddie Yeats married Marion in 1983 on Halloween as well. Jason is the only one of those characters left on Coronation Street! in past years, though, Halloween also saw catalysts for a lot of storylines to pitch forward into momentous happenings. Read on!

You may remember that both Hilda Ogden and Maud Grimes had a hobby, they read people's tea leaves. Do you remember that Maud read Raquel's tea leaves in 1996, less than a year after she and Curly married? Maud saw Raquel traveling over water and having a new career. Within days, Raquel has landed an interview for a job practising aromatherapy...in Kuala Lumpur! She was gone within a month but several years later the back story was rewritten and we were told that she didn't get past London, because she was pregnant. She ended up in France.

Another portent of doom happened on Halloween in 1997 when Jon the tie-boy let Deirdre convince him to let her lend him £5000 quid to put a deposit down on a house. A couple of months later, she discovered he was a scam artist, tried to take the money back through the ATM and ended up arrested and jailed for fraud! All was not lost, though, Mike Baldwin hired a crack solicitor and another victim of Jon's stepped forward and Deirdre was let out of jail.

Just before Halloween, 1998, Zoe had her purse nicked by a couple in a club. Turns out they are affiliated with a religious cult and, recognizing that Zoe is vulnerable after the death of her baby, Shannon, slowly suck her into the realms of the Cult of NIRAB.

At Halloween, 2001, a drunken Les admits he kissed Janice's sister at their own wedding. That pushed Jan over the edge and she indulged in her secret attraction for Les's mate, Dennis, who was living with Eileen at the time. The marraige breaks down and Janice asks for a divorce. By New Year's Day, Dennis will be dead, having saved Les from suicide but dying in a car crash while trying to get Les to hospital.

Halloween 2003 sees a pregnant Tracy Barlow and Roy Cropper meet with the registrar at the town hall, preparing to apply for a marraige license so as to make baby Barlow legally Roy's. Solicitor Maya Sharma erroneously told Roy that this was what he had to do to be legally recognized as the father. They married 2 weeks later and after the baby was revealed to be Steve's, breaking Roy and Hayley's hearts, Roy obtained an annullment.

And lastly, just about Halloween, 2006, saw Charlie bobbing for apples with David's head in the bath and without the apples. Maria caught him and told Tracy about their affair. That kicked off Tracy's revenge scheme that ended with her killing Charlie and landing in jail!
