In yesterday's edition of The Life of Wylie, the main gist of which had me speculating on Liam's death, Ian Wylie mentioned he'd spoken to producer Kim Crowther who hinted that some recently departed characters could possibly return next year. In today's blog, Mr. Wylie expands on that interview. Ms. Crowther talks about recently departed characters who'd started off slowly but by the time they'd reached the most recent storyline, seemed to have run their course. They are, of course, the Mortons. Most of them are gone now but with Darryl still around, there's always the chance one or more could return next year if a fresh, new storyline comes up. In the meantime, we've heard Darryl is to get an assistant (What happened to Tina?) I'm a bit confused, though. If Coronation Street is getting a new family, won't they be living in the Mortons' old house? If so, where's Darryl going to live? Is he going to move the shed behind the shop?

A question: how was Jerry able to take Finlay abroad anyway when he isnt even his kid? Wouldn't he have gone back to live with Thesera, who said "I love my kids" in almost every other sentence?
Good question, Ena. Mind you, Jerry was married to Theresa at the time of Finlay's birth so legally he probably does have parental rights.
I was curious at the time as to how Jerry came to have Kayleigh and Finlay's passports anyway. They weren't living with him originally, and only turned up after being rescued from Theresa's clutches. I'd like to see them come back though.
And of course Karen Henthorn recently said that she could well be back next year. Do you think someone up in Manchester was paying attention to our Keep the Mortons campaign?
Presumably Darryl will end up moving into the flat above the shop if Jerry sells #6. I would like to see them return with the absense of Brat Morton and Finlay.
Kayleigh and Finlay are awful actors, Mel bored me to death, can't stand Teresa, Jerry is the only member of the family I'd have return, and even now it's pointless. The amount of stuff that's happened to him on the Street - if we're being realistic, you wouldn't want to go back.
New families will mopve into the flats plus who lives in the house next to the Butchers?
The house next to the butchers is a door way to the upstairs flats, Janice lives in one of them
