Having survived brain surgery, Jerry uttered to Teresa the six most beautiful words in the Scouse language: "I love the bones of you." Her reply? "I've been giving you too many blood thinners." Genius scriptwriting from Carmel Morgan, and brilliant acting from Karen Henthorn and Michael Starke, as Jerry realised that Teresa had been slowly poisoning him, and she tried to convince him that her motive had been just to keep him dependent because she wanted to stay with the family.

Some great comedy from Vernon (why is he leaving? Why are Jerry and Teresa leaving?). He's got his songwriting mojo back and lyrics are just pouring out of him. In fact, he had to perform one for Liz:
There's danger at the bar flap
You know I mean that tall chap
Don't fall into the Mason's arms

Dev decided he'd had enough of being treated like a gigolo by Nina, and told her he wanted to end their liaison. But Nina doesn't take no for an answer, and told him if he did that she didn't think she'd be able to bear having him anywhere near Prem, so Prem's offer of Dev becoming the chair of the Manchester Asian Business Network would also be off the table. Dev apparently has no choice but to do whatever Nina wants.

Gail tried to finish things with Joe as well, now that Tina and David are back together again, but Joe won't take no for an answer either. Only he's far less sinister about it than Nina is.

Marcus is back in London staying with Noel, his ex, and Sean isn't taking it well.

And Ken is working in Roy's Rolls again. Well, someone has to clear tables while Vernon is writing his next masterpiece.

Very glad that the bitch Teresa is finally about to leave. I have no idea how any of you can feel sympathy for her after what she's done. First what she did to Lloyd was just heartless and now this with Jerry. She just wants to be wanted? That's just no argument. There are normal ways to go about it.

Is it me or is big bollywood vain mrs prem nina mandal actually quite fat?

No wonder Marcus is leaving Sean because for Sean jealousy kicks in after about 25 seconds of a relationship. Boring. I am quite bored of Sean actually.

And I am now gutted Vernon's leaving. Is he leaving this month?

I don't understand Sean at all, Marcus told him weeks ago that he would be staying with Noel. And why does Gail's voice rise by several octaves when ever she's talking to Joe? Apart from that, great scenes at the hospital, although I do wonder if Kayleigh isn't too old to be bought off with pizza and sweets.

One quick question - why hasn't Jody been informed of her father's ill health & hospitalisation (before & now) - or even mentioned?

A good point Dillydaydream. Why is Les Batterby never mentioned or Battersby junior, and umpteen other characters i.e Steve McDonalds ex's or Diggory the the baker man? surley he would need to be called upon to make the wedding cake and give his daughter away, if they ever make it up the aisle, but instead we get Corries answer to Del boy Auntie Pam. We know why really it's only a soap!
On another point, I agree I reall like the Vernon character as well, his song 'Don't fall into the Masons Arms' sang to Liz last night was hilarious but heartfelt and beautifully played with such a straight face.
I also like Sinbad...oops I mean Jerry and it is a shame he is reputed to be written out. Some characters need time to develop.

Hillman Minx - I'm sure I remember Molly saying that Diggory would be making the wedding cake. I'm hoping Diggory comes to the wedding.

Les and Cilla are mentioned relatively frequently. It would be good to see Diggory for the wedding.

I think Corrie does well for mentioning off-screen characters, certainly in comparison to other soaps (touches like a photo of Ernie being in Emily's bedroom are unique, I'd say, in this day and age). Not sure about the Martin mention yesterday, though; that seemed a bit weak.

Indeed, I wasn't too enamoured by much of it last night. Dev was simply woeful; Sean too, as ever. Vernon was the shining light -absolutely superb- although I had to wonder why he played the song to Liz! And Tina looked gorgeous, as per usual. Relatively slim pickings, though.

Never mind Jodie, where's Jerry's dad? He just vanished!

Whatever you think of Theresa as a character, she is one hell of an actress. Karen Henthorn should stay (actually so should Mickey Stark) Vernon is going to be the biggest loss thiough; I was almost crying with laughter at his rendition of his new song, and the expressions on Liz's face were priceless. We've heard that Vern's going to get a recording contract at last...what's the betting it's for "(Don't Fall Into)The Mason's Arms"? I bet he's going to have a hit with it, inspired by his Muse! What fantastic comic pathos Ian Reddington is capable of. Please get him back, after his West End play and panto!

Teresa is lonely and wanted Jerry and her family back but did a very stupid thing. They love each other but never said it. Teresa may have had a bad childhood and did not know how to be a good wife and mother, she may have grown up being treated roughly herself. She wanted to be needed, but true to character she messed up again. Great acting. Vernon - amazing song, great voice! Dev and Nina, Gail & Jo - pass the sick bucket.
