Thanks to our close personal friends at Digital Spy for this information...
The Mortons may have just about left and the Connors are dropping like flies, but a new family are already lined up to join Coronation Street. Eddie and Donna Windass (played by Steve Huison and Debbie Rush) , their son Carl (Mikey North) and Eddie's brother Len (Conor Ryan), to be exact. A face-off between David Platt and Eddie is already in the pipeline.
I wonder if David will be helped or hindered by the news that his former cellmate Graeme (Craig Gazey) is about to turn up in the Street? I'm over the moon about this news because I absolutely loved Graeme the singing arsonist and really wanted him to be given another story.
Digital Spy also report that Liam's parents...
played by Sorcha Cusack and Frank Grimes, will be at their son's funeral, which I'm also pleased about - it would have really stretched credibility if they hadn't turned up.
Something that doesn't please me is that Roger the Plumber will be leaving the Street soon. I have a soft spot for him because Andrew Dunn, who plays him, once smiled at me at Kings Cross station. Apparently he'll finally get fed up with Evil Troll Battersby when the truth about the lottery scam comes out, but the proverbial door is being left open for him should anyone on the Street need a plumber.
In case of confusion, Digital Spy have cunningly compiled a list of cast member comings-and-goings for all the UK soaps which you can find here. I'm still trying to come to terms with the loss of Liam Connor and Abs from Casualty in the same month. Maybe Rob James-Collier will turn up in Casualty (it wouldn't be the first time) and Corrie can recruit James Redmond? Now that would make me very happy.

David is going to face off against the father of the family and not the son? Seems a bit odd, but perhaps DS reported the wrong name.
The new familys last name is Windass? Am I the only one who chuckled at this? :)
Nice name for the new family - Windass - I can already think of a few "nicknames" for it. And David getting into more both - surprise, surprise. They have got to find some new writers.
