Coronation Street to get its own paedophile plot

Normally these headline-grabbing, shock-tactic plots are left to That London-Based Soap, which is basking in complaints about its current paedophile storyline.

Depressingly, it looks like Coronation Street is about to follow suit, with news of an upcoming story in which we discover that a "pervert copper" tried to seduce Becky when she was 15. Becky apparently reported him, and he returns seeking revenge by framing her for assault, having bumped into her again when she's arrested after her rampage. Luckily she has the support of those two good men Roy Cropper and Steve McDonald.

The Sun's Corrie mole said, "We never intentionally copy EastEnders and our plot will be portrayed significantly different to theirs. However, we are aware that this is a sensitive issue and we have ensured that all aspects have been thoroughly researched."

    Well Mr L, Emmerdale are currently doing a "lost engagement ring" story just like the one with Molly so I dont know how that refelcts society, just copy cat as far as I can see.

    I do think this is a good plot. it would go a long way to explaining why Becky is the way she is.

    Why on earth does Corrie need a paedophile story? I watch Corrie for a bit of mindless enjoyable relaxation after work, I'm quite happy with Rita and Norris snapping at each other. Others may disagree.

    Apparently an ITV source has said the newspaper has got the story wrong. The policemen did try it on with Becky when he arrested her when she was 15 and she gave him a black eye, the spokesperson says that it is only mentioned once, and so the policeman makes up a charge of assault and its up to Steve to provide an alibi, if he does this it could let their secret meeting become known to Michelle, so the storyline will focus on Becky.     Why do the 3 soaps, i.e. Corrie, EE and Emmerdale all mirror each other in storylines?

    I said to my other half only the other day "I wonder how long it will be before Corrie has a paedophile story like the one on the other side?" Didn't take them long.
