Michelle Keegan's chav-tastic fashion past

michelle-keegan-215.jpgMichelle Keegan (Tina) always gives good interviews, and there's a nice long one in the Sunday Mirror here.

She talks about how she still has to pinch herself when she goes onto the Coronation Street set because she feels so lucky to be there. "Tina came in to the show just to change David into a nice character, and then to get to the point where he pushed his mum down the stairs. I was supposed to be out of there after that. But they've kept me on. They needed a bit of a ballsy character, I think. She's moved into the Platts' now and she's getting a family base around her, so hopefully she's around for the long haul. I didn't think I was staying, so I'm very lucky."

She's now photographed a lot and always looks stylish, but that wasn't always the case, she reveals: "When I was younger I was a bit of a scally," she says. "My life up to the age of 14 was a fashion disaster. I was always in trakkies, hoodies and Nike or Adidas trainers. At the time it was cool, so I don't regret it. I think my friends and I thought we were 'Chav-ant Garde!' We all looked the same. We had the same scraped-back hair, and I even used to gel my 'baby' hair to my face to make a kiss curl. At the time I was trying to look like J.Lo, but my mum was like, 'Please put a dress on.'"

And Michelle takes the opportunity to put in another plea for her character to be paired up with Liam Connor (Rob James-Collier) before he leaves. "He's definitely the sexiest bloke of the street. And he's funny and a nice guy, he's really Manc. I'm like, 'Before he leaves, you've got to write him and Tina together.' But I doubt he'd go for 16-year-old Tina, sadly..." You can't blame her for trying, can you?
