Yay or Nay: Is Rob James-Collier just a pretty face?

Comments (9)

In last week's Yay or Nay we asked, Should the Masons stay in Corrie? And it seems that the bookies have won your hearts, because overwhelmingly you said Yay. Do you think we should start a petition? (That's not this week's Yay or Nay, by the way).

02_05_liam-2.jpgThe British Soap Awards took place at the weekend (it's on telly tonight, 8pm on ITV1 and 10pm on ITV2). Rob James-Collier won Sexiest Male for the second year running. I don't want to debate whether he deserved it or not, because that's a given, but I was interested in his reaction. Ian Wylie of the MEN, said Rob didn't look "massively impressed" with the award and said in his speech, "Thank you very much for this award, that really reflects acting ability..."

So please consider the following poser: Is Rob James-Collier just a pretty face? No abusive comments, please, just a good old debate! Click the comments link to have your say and vote Yay or Nay on this vital issue.

And remember you can vote Yay or Nay across some of the other Shiny sites at Catwalk Queen, Dollymix, Kiss and Make Up, The Bag Lady, Shoewawa, Trashionista, Shiny Shiny, Hippy Shopper and Bridalwave

    NAY!

Rob James Collier is gorgeous, but he's also a really good actor. The scenes when he found out about the baby was really believable, and it was totally sad. Everyone goes on about his accent, but that's his accent in real life, so he can't exactly help it! I just wish he wasn't leaving Corrie at the end of the year. There are no more good looking guys on the street now : (

Nay for me also, he is good looking but his acting is good, especially when he has to show any emotion and I do enjoy his oneliners. I think the first time he won the sexiest award was flattering but his acting has grown this past year and he was right to make that comment.

Overall Nay. He is far from being the finest actor on the programme but he is very good to look at! I think he may find leaving Corrie though to be a decision that he will regret.

As for the petition: Don't bother. The Corrie producers never listen to the viewers anyway. However, i think emailing them (or someone at Corrie HQ) the link to the thread can't do any harm. I would love to read an official response to a Yay or Nay on Corrie Blog!

Nay! Although he IS very nice to look at, I think he shows a lot of emotion in his acting - whether it's making me laugh or feeling his pain.

It sounds like he didn't take the award seriously and to be truthful it has nothing to do with his acting ability just his looks. I must admit I have never really taken to him - his choice of wardrobe is awful and sometimes his acting is flat, but other times (the real emotional times) he is quite good. So I am going to say Yay the pretty face is hampering him.

I've reworded the question a bit now because it was a tad convoluted! Have to agree with you, Tvor. The scenes the other day where Liam found out about the baby, and some of his scenes with Carla, have shown his talent as an actor. He's also very good at delivering funny lines. He possibly needs to rein the Manc accent back a bit, but apart from that...

  • Gill

He gave us some good acting on Monday when he found out about the baby. Tearful scenes are not always convincing but I found him utterly believable.

NAY I think he does a pretty good job when he's up to the bar. The scenes when he admitted to Michelle that Paul was driving the car when Dean died were very well done, loads of emotion and the baby story is proving he's up to it as well. Generally Liam is a "lad" and he's cheerful and cheeky and it's probably not a far cry from Rob himself. Liam has also grown up a lot since he's been running the business rather than riding Paul's coattails.
