Rob James-Collier: he's a serious actor

Comments (9)

25-Jan.jpgRob James-Collier is insisting that he wants to be taken seriously as an actor. Fresh from his underwhelmed response at receiving yet another "sexiest male" accolade, he's been telling New! magazine that that's why he's glad to be leaving Coronation Street: "You can work your nuts off acting-wise, but as soon as you appear on screen in a towel, bingo, you're the sexiest male."

He says he'll turn down offers of jobs in panto and so on until the right part comes along. "I want to be taken seriously as an actor and that means landing the right part," he says.

Maybe he should audition for a remake of The Elephant Man? By keeping a sack over his head throughout the performance, we won't be distracted by his handsomeness.

I think i must be one of the few that couldn't c why he won sexiest male in the first place. He's good lookin............. but by no means is that man sexy. And the acting ability........... come on! Well all the best to him. I know I won't be seeing him around in anything else. Maybe he didn't win best actor/supporting actor becuase he can't act!

He heas delusions of adequacy I think

... merciful heavens ... delusions of grandeur or what?

Maybe if he stuck to his principles and refused to appear in a towel with his body on show, perhaps then he would be taken seriously as an actor. Come off it Rob, who do you think you are!!!!

Same old thing, unknowns get a part in the most popular soap and after 5 minutes cos they get a bit of media/press attention they think they are the next John Geiguld and can conquer the world! All but a few - Sarah Lancashire comes to mind - disappear without trace. Remember Christopher Quentin (aka Brian Tilsey) going off to Hollywood to become the next Tony Curtis? Julie Goodyear is another prime example. However I wish him well.

He's not that bad an actor, i don't think, but i think he's also got illusions of grandeur like a lot of soap actors that are just ok. Tracy Shaw is one that really comes to mind more than Tina even. Tracy was the tabloid queen and really thought she'd go places and she dropped out of sight with only a couple of post-corrie acting jobs. Rob is ok, but he's no Olivier.

No Bobbi, you're not. And just like countless others before him he believes he's a serious actor at heart. I wish him all the luck in the world, but the chances are he won't be seen in anything much once he leaves the cobbles, apart from next year's Argos catalogue.

Hed be excellent in the Elephant Man as he already has the vocal talents with all his words sssssccchhhhhluring when he says anything starting with an s, it must be something he puts on for the part as sometimes its worse than others. To be honest I think hes just another of these actors who does a soap then goes off to do other things and finds its not that easy (Tina O Brien comes to mind). Some have succeeded but thats because they can actually act a bit.

am I the only female who thinks he can't act his way out of a paper bag....
