It's been a busy old week on Coronation Street. First off, Chesney was taken into care when Claire rang Social Services to say she was worried about the lad, what with the accidental iron burns, the mousetraps, the diet of takeaways and stale croissants, the lack of going to school... You can see she had a point, but she never expected that the wee boy and his dog would be taken into (separate) care. Nor did she expect she'd have to fend off the wrath of Becky. Anyway, Roy (who is back from Africa) is on the case, and Chesney is going to be allowed home into the care of his sister, just as soon as she gets back from her holidays. Hapless Kirk hasn't had the courage to tell her what's happened yet.
Tina is no longer pregnant, after she went through with the termination. David still doesn't know about it, and just figured she was about to dump him, so he dumped her first in a pre-emptive strike.
Sullen Alex was persuaded to go home with his mad-haired "not -his-real" mother, Wendy. But will he be able to settle again without such a ready supply of pick & mix? As if that wasn't bad enough for Michelle, Ryan is now getting more curious about his own biological parents, and Michelle is faced with the prospect of going from too many sons to none at all.
Liam's had a lot on his plate. Someone (we know it's Kelly, but Liam doesn't yet) has been pilfering substandard stock from the factory, tarting it up and selling it on. What with one thing and another (I typed that as "one thong and another," which would also have worked), Liam has almost had enough of Underworld, as he told Tony Gordon. Mad Tony took this literally, and made Liam an offer he couldn't refuse, to buy out his 40%. Only Liam could refuse it, and did, and Carla wasn't best pleased with Tony either.
Dan Mason humiliated Slimy Paul by making him take his clothes off in the bookies' and go home in his Superman undercrackers. Not a pretty sight, but it had the desired effect of making Paul pay up what he owed.
Money's too tight to mention at Valandro's, and Leanne is fed up. The place might be enlivened by the new waitress, though - the lovely Amber: "I've got ten GCSE's, I'm good with people and I don't vomit at the smell of Parmesan," was the pitch that got her the job.
Other news: Molly and Tyrone now officially own the house formerly known as The Duckworths.' Sarah won't speak to Jason and he fears she has a new Italian boyfriend, "all moisturiser and tight trousers." Bill Webster and Tony Gordon are both hoping to benefit from the new flats being built next to Roy's Rolls - Bill in the form of building work, Tony in the form of investments. : "Penthouses can be a girl's second best friend," said Carla, little realising that a girl's first best friend may also be on its way to her. But more of that next week.
