Steven Arnold in Halifax

StevenAutographCard.jpgWow, am I tired! I just spent a busy two days here in Halifax, Canada where the Downeast Streeters hosted a visit with Steven Arnold, who plays Ashley on Corrie. I'm in the middle of sorting through my notes and photos but rest assured, I will pass on the details of the events of the past two days very soon. The general outline of my involvement was this: Monday night, the organizing committed, my fellow members of the Downeast Streeters, had a dinner with Steven, his dad and dad's lifelong pal at a lovely local restaurant. Steven signed autographs and graciously posed for photos with the organizers and we had a lovely meal.

Tuesday was the main event, An Evening with Steven Arnold at the Halifax Marriott Hotel. Steven answered questions from the audience and talked about the show for an hour an a half then after a break, he drew the raffle prize winning numbers. Later, he posed for pictures and signed autographs for approximately 100 eager fans. When the event was over, Steven, his traveling companions and most of the organizing committee wound down in the hotel bar, still high off the adrenaline rush.

Steven, his dad (Steven Sr.) and pal Jimmy thoroughly enjoyed their stay here in Halifax. They were so impressed with how friendly and warm the locals are, even if they found the weather pretty chilly. Steven himself is very genuine and warm and very much like Ashley, though he says "I'm not as daft as he is"! He had lots of backstage stories to tell and over the next few days, I'll blog 'em! I was also interviewed with the Event Coordinator for a web tech site and I believe that's going to be online as well. Naturally, Corrieblog will be mentioned!

Here's an interview with local scribe, Peter Duffy, who interviewed Steven the day before the show. Peter will very likely mention the show in his next column so I will blog that for you as well.

Becky, it was my birthday the day before, when i met him the first time and got to sit beside him at our committee dinner :))

CorrieLover, yes he has the same accent but it's not quite as squeeky, he does put that on some for the character though believe it or not, it's not as bad as it used to be on screen.

I would think he was a better actor if he did not have high, squeeky voice that annoys me so much. I am sure he is really nice in person. Does he have the same voice and accent as Ashley? One of these days I will meet a Corrie actor...Good for you!

I was so excited to have met him. He seems so nice and down to earth! I wish I had been able to think of something decent to say when I met him but my words would not come out properly. He is a very talented actor and so funny. I had the best birthday ever! ... someone asked if he would ever date a Nova Scotia girl and he said yes. I think he should pick me!!! I think Down East Streeters should bring him back again soon!... I am in love!

  • Lucky you!! ;-)
