Tina O'Brien has claimed that she will never marry boyfriend Ryan Thomas, because marrying him on Coronation Street has put her off. "I would never get married now. I've done it twice on Corrie and that's enough!" she told Now magazine. It's not the first time she's said it, either.
Corrie producer Steve Frost has been promoted to the new job of Head of Continuing Series for ITV drama, replacing Corinne Hollingworth. This means he'll still have Corrie in his remit, along with Emmerdale, Heartbeat, The Bill and so on. He'll have an office in London but still be based part of the time in the north. Kim Crowther is replacing Frost as Coronation Street producer.

Jennie McAlpine 's character Fiz has recently had to deal with the fostering system, with little brother Chesney being taken into care. Jennie has used this experience to help promote the work of Middlesbrough's Family Information Service. Her dad works in mental health services in the area, and Jennie said, "Fostering is something that is close to my heart for two reasons. Firstly because of the work that my dad does. There are just not enough foster carers and if we could encourage more people to explore it, that can only be a good thing. And secondly because in my pretend life on Coronation Street, Fiz is fostering Chesney."
Katherine Kelly (Becky) is patron of the North-West Air Ambulance, and is setting up a ten-pin bowling tournament to raise money for the charity. She'll be mustering a team of celebrities to take on challengers at Hollywood Bowl, Middlebrook Leisure Park, Bolton, on 15 May. To enter a team call Lysette on 01933 441773.
William Roache attended the opening of a new hotel in Blackpool, and spoke of the regeneration of the resort: "I can feel there is a new vitality. The gateway to the resort, the hotel and the football club doing well is all part of a wider scene. Blackpool is a beautiful place with everything to offer. This is a very promising start."
Eric Potts, who played Molly Compton's baker dad, Diggory, in Coronation Street, is about to take up his stethoscope in a new role. ... I'm sorry ... but find myself scratching my head here ... what would ever compel Tina O'Brien to say something like that? ... was it said in jest, perhaps?
