Double episode written by Damon Rochefort and Chris Fewtrell
Jamie bought a flame-coloured, flame-patterned car. "I thought it would make you smile," he told Violet, but it takes more than a comedy vehicle to get Violet to cheer up. While he dashed off with a consignment of their belongings to London, Violet went into labour in t'Rovers (luckily Vernon plans to start the redecorating very soon and has already got the materials). It was quite an amusing birth, with Sean providing annoying support, Marcus at the sticky end and a comedy chorus of Liz, Vernon, Eileen and Lauren looking on (until Vernon felt faint and had to go to the cellar to "fetch mixers").
The baby was born without difficulty or incident, and Sean was thrilled. "I was the first face he saw!" he said. But Jamie missed the birth, and when he finally got to the hospital he was upset to find Sean sitting cuddling the baby. Jamie is now more determined than ever that they should leave, but Violet is having second thoughts - she doesn't think she can deprive Sean of the baby.
It was a bumper day for Emily's charity shop...
As well as inheriting a bag of clothes etc from Violet, who was having a pre-London clear-out before she went into labour, Jack also decided it was time to sort out Vera's things. I'm ashamed to say that when he picked up one of her blouses and said, "I can smell her," my daughter and I simultaneously said "Urrghh!" Not the reaction that was intended by the scriptwriters, I suspect.
Dan took Kelly to Valandro's, they had a slap-up meal and two bottles of champagne, then left saying Paul would pay. Paul had to tell Leanne this was the result of a bet between him and Dan, and she's insisting he pays up. When Dan and Kelly got back to his place, their romantic mood was scuppered by the discovery that Harry had moved out Dan's minimalist furniture (Harry's take on glass coffee tables: "How can you make a statement with something you can't even see?") and replaced them with his "old man" furniture.
Also visiting Valandro's were Michelle, Wendy and Alex. The plan was for Alex to go home with Wendy, but he ended up back at t'Rovers again, watching video of Saint Dean.
In other news, Carla asked Tony to move in with her. And David and Tina had probably the worst party in the history of rubbish parties. It was attended by Darryl and Amber, and seemed to last for about half an hour. It was a lot less exciting than Dev and Amber's earlier conversation about the number of calories in a pasty.
