Michelle Keegan (David Platt's new love interest Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street) is interviewed in today's Sunday Mirror. She reveals that it was Jack P Shepherd who inspired her to be an actress. "When I left school I told my friends, 'I want to act.' But they said, 'Michelle, get your head out of the clouds. It's never going to happen,'" she says.
She took various jobs, including one as an airport check-in girl, and she spotted a famous face in the queue: Jack P Shepherd. "I checked him and his girlfriend in one day - they were flying to America," remembers Michelle. "I saw him in the queue and I said to myself, 'Please don't let him come to my desk'. I was so nervous. But he came straight over. I tried to act dead cool and make it look like I didn't recognise him. A year later, I'm playing his girlfriend. How mad is that?" The meeting probably changed her life. "Maybe he made an impression on me in a way. I decided there and then to try and make my dream happen - I applied for drama school and found an agent."
We've heard before about Corrie stars who don't like doing kissing scenes, but Michelle takes it in her stride. "It's work kissing," she says, "no tongues or anything. But it was fine. There was no bad breath or spinach on his teeth!"
She's currently dating Hollyoaks actor Anthony Quinlan, and she sounds like a completely down-to-earth, very nice, person."My parents divorced when I was 11. But they still talk and they're so proud. My dad has always been the biggest Corrie fan. I watched my first episode over at his house hiding behind a cushion. All my friends were there. When I came on everyone started screaming. But I couldn't bear to look. How long will that last, do you think?"
Not sure how long the screaming will last, but I hope Michelle lasts in Coronation Street for a very long time.

Most young women look the same to me at 58 years, but Michelle is instantly identifiable which would make her a good character for Coronation Street.
I have to say i was instantly impressed with Michelle's character from her first scene. I think she has MASSIVE potential and i already look forward to her scene's. She is a great little actress and is nearly rivalling Katherine Kelly's Becky as one of my favourites!
On a seperate note. It is Sunday evening and i am feeling lost without Corrie. Lol!

One day she's watching Gail Platt on the telly, the next she's calling her a power crazed midget.
Of the new young female characters I already like her better than Lauren
I liked her too. Someone somewhere likened her to a younger Karen McDonald. In some ways yes, she's certainly stroppy enough and that's a good thing!
Yes, I agree, I much prefer her to Lauren. She seems a much more natural actress that her who plays Lauren (who I find tends to overact a bit).
she is gorgeous....
Can anyone tell me where I can buy the top that Tina was wearing last week. White long sleeve with black braces on the front and back. It is a wicked top that I must have.
Cheers.
Michelle Keegan is fit like hell and i wont to ask her out
