Poor Michelle Connor. She's not had the easiest start to 2008, what with discovering that she may have brought up the wrong sullen, black-haired son for the past sixteen years. Kym Ryder, who plays her in Coronation Street, has been explaining the latest twist in the tale to Inside Soap.
"She's curious about Alex, and quite fascinated with him, because it's like looking at a mirror-image of her dead former partner." Even though she's convinced herself that nothing will change her relationship with Ryan, she still feels a bond with the boy who may be biologically her child. As she gets to know Alex, she discovers that he hasn't had a happy life. "He explains that he's never fitted in at home, so Michelle feels a huge sense of responsibility towards him."
Ryan doesn't know that Michelle has been secretly meeting Alex, but Steve doesn't approve, both for Michelle and Ryan's sake and for his own: "He's jealous of Dean always being mentioned as the love of her life," Kym says. Oh dear. It'll end in tears.

I always imagined Dean to be a bit of a looker - if he looked like Alex, he must have been a bit of a munter!! :-)
Is this saga never going to end? It seems to have been going on for ever and then while last night seemed to bring it to a happy conclusion we have her stalking the lad! Why do Corrie do this, the Ashley/KC/Clurr saga was another example! Grrrr
"Alex feels that the doesn't fit in at home"? That seems like a universal teenage complaint. This story hasn't started yet in Canada but it seems too convoluted for Corrie to handle. Now that they have introduced Alex and his family what are they going to do with them??
BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting bored by this. I hope it just get's on with it and it happens. Something else should happen.
I made an observation last week that this storyline had turned into a saga of the most boring proportions ala Shelley/Charlie in the bedroom and Claire and Log.

Does anyone really care about this? I can't say i am anymore. I wouldn't be that bothered if they all ended up dancing around to the can-can in the next episode. The one plus point is that the actor known as Plank who plays Ryan Connor might actually be gone at the end of this. Thank you God!
I'm just fed up with Michelle & Ryan Connor full stop. She's never without a frown on her forehead and she's just totally depressing. And Ryan, well, it's all been said before.
I feel sorry for Steve.
I too am getting bored with this ridiculous storyline. Didn't Michelle and the whole family move to Manchester from London? I can't remember, if so how comes Michelle had her baby in Weatherfield? Can someone let me know please.
Yep - here's more of what I've been saying all along: I can't stand the Connors. It just isn't working for me. The writers can grind out all the stories about them that they want to, I cannot fit them into Coronation Street. May I add Carla's oversized pout along with Dilly D's reference to Michelle's frown as a constant irritant to me. There. I feel better.
Being a good few months behind the UK episodes, we are in the middle of Ryan v Alex and Michelle .
I am already tired of Michelle being used by Alex and Ryan having to "fit in " in his own home. I dislike the "Scruff and pathetic" look that Alex has . I hope Steve puts his foot down or that something shows Michelle that Alex is a manipulater bar none. Michelle was such a strong character in the begining.
