Kevin Webster off to prison

Kevin2.jpgMichael Le Vell is the latest Coronation Street video interviewee to be featured on ITV.com, and he talks about Kevin's sentencing for beating up Mr Stape.

"Kevin's reaction when he finds out he's going to prison is stunned and shocked, because obviously it's Kevin's first offence and you don't expect to get sent to prison for your first offence, it seems a little bit harsh to Kevin, and he's got three girls at home he's got to look after," Michael says.

He describes the reactions of the other Websters: "Sally's reaction is also stunned and I think she takes it out on Rosie because she blames Rosie for the situation that we've all found ourselves in. Sophie's distraught - she's losing her best mate."

But how does Kevin feel about his daughter Rosie's behaviour?

"Kevin will always forgive the women in his life," Michael reckons. "He's forgiven Sally numerous affairs, so of course he's going to forgive his daughter because, like Rosie said, at the end of the day she wasn't doing anything illegal - it was just bad practice on the teacher's part, really."

The main thing, for Kevin, is that it was Rosie and not Sally who was messing about with Stape: "I think he's a bit relieved that it wasn't Sally having an affair, deep down, because then he would have been really distraught, and I don't think he could forgive another one," Michael says.

The sentencing episode will be shown on Friday 11 January.

This isn't Kevin first time in court he has already been there some years ago when Steven used his name after a car accident. Why isn't John being charge and will he now be sacked as a teacher.

I think a month in prison is a bit harsh as there were mitigating circumstances but Kevin is far too handy with his fists, in fact there was a Corrie prog on how many people he has decked.

I hope we have seen the last of fat-face Stapes now and I also hope he gets the sack.

Kevin is far less handy with this fists than he used to be and less violent in nature than Danny Baldwin, Tommy Harris or Les. Even mild mannered Martin Platt gave Karl a good thumping when he thought his actions hurt Sarah. It is understandable that a father would get mad at an other man who took advantage of his daughter. Compared to the days of Mike and Ken smacking each other there are less man fights now.

I'd love to know the number of characters on Corrie that have a criminal record! There is an inordinate amount, is there not?
