Marshall Lancaster, who played Becky Grainger's boyfriend Slug in Coronation Street, has been seen more recently in BBC drama Life on Mars and its new spin-off, Ashes to Ashes, as DC Chris Skelton.
But he reveals that he very nearly returned to Corrie, when he was contacted by the show's bosses. Unfortunately he was already committed to Ashes to Ashes. "I thought: It's like buses; sometimes there's none coming along at all and when you're on one, about three come at once," he says. But he told Coronation Street bosses that, "If you ever want [Slug] to crawl out from under a lettuce leaf in future I'll be happy to oblige. If ever the opportunity comes again I'll happily go in it. I had a good time on Coronation Street."

Holy crap, i didn't realize Slug was the same guy from Life on Mars! He was really sleazy and icky as Slug but that's the mark of a good actor.
Katherine Kelly(Becky) played Sam's auntie in an episode of Life On Mars. She was actually in a scene with Marshall Lancaster
