The Sun is getting all hot-under-the-collar about the forthcoming scenes (to be shown on 25 January) between Carla and Liam."Corrie fans should brace themselves for some of the soap's HOTTEST scenes," gasps their online reporter, before showing a less than perfect grasp of Coronation Street relationships by describing Liam as Carla's "soon to be brother-in-law." We're told to expect "flashes of her body," as Carla's "raging libido goes into overdrive" when Liam takes a shower.
According to the Sun's Corrie insider, "This show is now in its 48th continuous year, and let me tell you, viewers have never seen scenes that are as sexually charged as these. They are so hot that we’re worried about protests from the clean-up TV brigade because of Corrie’s pre-watershed slot. Some viewers could well be offended. Both the actors - Alison and Rob - are worried about a viewer backlash."
It all sounds jolly exciting, but will probably turn out to be "summat and nowt," as they say in Yorkshire. But if there are scenes of Rob James-Collier in the shower, I'll probably have to watch them several times just to make sure.

This may just be exaggerated for publicity purposes- it's certainly gonna make me watch though, I can't wait! But then it has been a long time coming, the two actors have such great chemistry and me and all my 'corrie' friends have been waiting AGES for them to get together. Maybe they could air the episode half and hour later?

It shouldn't happen - AT ALL... it was bad enough a few years ago on 'The Archers' with the now infamous 'shower scene'...
Both Carla and 'Lee-um' have partners that are strongly attracted to them - I know it's only a soap, but there are limits... please... I mean.. come on...! Cant a couple be happy?? Maria is pregnant with 'Lee-um's baby and things have been fairly tickety-boo so far. It's good to keep the sex out of it and the mystery of it there... with just the merest hint... heck, I'll bet good money somewhere that the ghost of Mary Whitehouse will wake up and cause a rukkus over this. I am... some things about that street are as sacred as the cobbles... Ena Sharples would have a coronary if she could see this going on!
For heaven's sake, isn't there enough trash on television? It is obvious to me the writers are scratching for story lines, and this is the only thing they can come up with. I can't stand the two characters at the best of times and the idea of seeing them hot and bothered throws me off and ruins me dinner. We all know people have sex and have a very good idea how it's done. When Corrie has to use that for ratings and interest, then I submit, it is time for new writers.
In this case the feelings and lust are so strong that the only way to express them is through this type of scene. If it were any other pair then I would agree that it is unnecessary but the sexual tension between them has been building for so long it would be effective to use a sex scene for them, as that primarilly is what there attraction is centred on. :)
I'm sure they're talking this up for a bit of buzz prior to the episode showing, but I for one am looking forward to this tremendously. Love both the characters and think the actors have a fabulous crackly chemistry between them which has had me dying for something like this for an absolute age.
I seriously doubt that Corrie will ever break any rules regarding pre-watershed nekkidness and such, though - they're only doing this for attention. The only X-rated thing I expect to see is the heat between Carla and Liam - this has been a long time coming! Anybody seriously expecting to be offended by what they see is most likely going to be disappointed.

As usual i'm sure it's just all hype. Flashes of her body? What? a leg? a shoulder? It can't be any more explicit than when we saw Maxine's bare back when she was waiting for Ashley and Fred came into the room instead. That was 10 years ago!! What about the time we saw Mike Baldwin roll off of Julia Stone in bed? Surely that was far more explicit. That was 8 or 9 years ago. so we see a little of Carla in the shower? Big deal. So we see a topless Liam ... Um... yes. that might be a big deal but i bet the actor is bricking it!
Why can't the script writers have a happy couple for once. Poor Maria, isn't it about time she found the right bloke who genuinely loves her. I think the script writers are scrathing the bottom of the barrel to get viewers, why would Liam and Carla after all these years suddenly develop these feelings for each other? Bit far fetched.

I was reading inside soap magazine rob james collier who plays liam said that maria and liam were going through rough patch, but once got carla out of his system he back with maria.

Carla and Liam are a TOTAL match made in heaven, the corrie writers would make my year if they get together. And it cant get that bad, sexually, so dont gasp just yet. But if it does, well, this is the 21st century for God's sake not the 19th century!! They are THE BEST couple I've ever seen, soap or otherwise; they're young, they're hot they're perfect...as long as they're together, whatever they do suits me fine. I SERIOUSLY hope Maria and Liam split though....

Why would half-wit Liam prefer Carla to Maria? Maria is a beautiful girl,while Carla looks like she's had too much Botox and Collagen.Maria dresses with some style,and Carla looks like she has raided PriMark on Sale day! Let's have some happy events for a while, Corrie will end up like East Enders, all doom and gloom.
Love Carla and Liam! They are great together- not many couples have had their chemistry in a soap for a long time (I like Steve and Michelle though but it wasn't as lustful as with Carla and Liam) Hope the scriptwriters take this story to its potential!
