Leanne's love affairs

Leanne2.jpgHad their relationship survived, Leanne and Nick Tilsley would be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary today. But he's living in Nottingham, and she's up to her elbows in pasta at Valandro's and I doubt either of them will pause a while to think of their wedding on that cold January day in Kircudbright.

The nine years since she split up with Nick have been quite eventful for Leanne. A short fling with Corner Shop cutie Vikram Desai was quickly followed by a descent into cocaine hell and entanglement with evil Jez Quigley. As a result she fled Weatherfield, and when she returned in 2004 her first task was to break up her ex-husband Nick and his new love, Maria Sutherland. Jamie Baldwin caught her eye, but once a Battersby always a Battersby (even if you've temporarily been a Tilsley) - Leanne followed the money and transferred her affections to Jamie's father, Danny. Her relationship with Baldwin Senior was a mixture of genuine affection and complete opportunism, and Leanne eventually ended up with a broken heart and headed for Spain.

When she returned from Spain, everyone thought she'd done ever so well for herself. She had a swanky job in property, she said. It turned out the only property she was selling was herself, on an hourly basis. Her stepmother Janice was aghast when she found out, but not nearly as aghast as Liam Connor, who by then was the latest notch on Leanne's bedpost. Unfortunately, while Liam was romantically involved with Leanne, his brother Paul was one of her customers. It ended in tears for Liam and Leanne, and Paul's death in a high-speed car crash.

Leanne has now put her previous profession behind her and is making a pretty good job of running Valandro's. But, true to form, her love life is about to get complicated once again. Her chef, Paul Clayton, has already made it clear that he likes her, and he's about to get a rival in the form of Dan Mason. And Paul and Dan are not the best of friends. It's going to be messy, complicated and dramatic - just the way love has always been for Leanne Battersby.

Earlier spoilers had Dan involved with Kelly for a bet but then falling for her for real. Guess that one isn't going to pan out. I can't see Leanne and Dan being any more successful and i think she's a bit too old and worldly for Paul though maybe they actually might suit each other. Dan is just too shallow and odious to have a lasting relationship with anyone, i think. I do quite like Harry though. I'd like to see stories with him.

In the soaplife nothing turns out a happy ending.

Thanks Sue of the summary on Leanne. There is something about Jane Danson that makes Leanne very apealing in each of her life stages. Even when she was being a nasty b_t_h to Maria it was all revinge on Nick who deserved it.
